This is a close up of the rosette on my Sawchyn. There must be a dictionary of these designs somewhere, it's interesting all the flourishes that have been given to mandolins....

Gosh, great responses here...... My first Mandolin was a Weber, and I didn't mind if anyone touched or played it. My new Mando is a Sawchyn and cost much more. I'm very protective of it..... ...

It has a voice! I had a Weber Hyalite that I had been playing, when I picked this up it asked to go home with me. It sounds just amazing, now I'll need to work hard to meet its standards!
