If you cross a ukulele with a mandolin, you might end up with one of these. ;)

Screened in and wrap-around. :)
Publix is actually considered pretty swanky there nowadays.
That was before my time on the forum, but I've used this:

Sounds like you have the best story on this thread, if you ask me.
I don't deserve it, but as soon as I cash in my Lotto ticket, I'm buying this Ellis and a new house with a wrap-around porch from where I can play it.
I love the tortoise binding.
I used to live just down the road from Blythewood. I'd do anything to get back there and plant my roots again.
It would make a great key fob for the Vanquish, if it didn't already have the fanciest fob available.
I call my Ibanez Mandy Lynn, but hopefully soon I can call her "sold".
My Morris is named Bonnie, short for Bonnie Blue.
If I had A Gibson Lloyd Loar mandolin, I would brag about how I bought it from a thrift store for $75.
Kind of hard to go wrong for $99. and it beat knocking around your Silverangel or Morris. (I'm getting a Morris too and I plan to keep my Ibanez around just for that purpose.)
I have the matte or "open pore" version and my wife has the dark violin sunburst gloss finish. My ears are not attuned to detect the subtleties in sound, but I will say that hers looks nicer in terms...
I don't like the sound of tremolo either.
When I try it, that is. :)
There's some good stories there, I'll bet.
That happened to me when I saw Leeza Gibbons a handful of years back when I auditioned for Who Wants to be a Millionare? She literally took my breath away. A couple years after that, I met her in...
I fit the bridge to my wife's 510 and changed the stock strings to Elixir Nanowebs (not sure of the exact gauge) and those two changes alone made a huge difference in the instrument's tone and...
No matter what you say, you're kind of a big deal. :)
No famous friends but some interesting interactions:
1. Played on stage with Billy Joel to an empty venue
2. Nearly got into a fight with the vocalist of Faith No More
3. Met the Red Hot Chili...
I agree with you. I recently restrung my mandolin with flat wound strings because I like the silky-smooth feel, however they did make my instrument sound completely dull. My wife has the same...
I agree with you to a point. For me it all depends on my my familiarity with the part of the fretboard I'm playing. Since I'm learning, I spend my time in the first and is second position and I...
Nicely done. I especially like the finish.
My thought is that any musical instrument is a tool, not a jewel, and is meant to be played. With playing, the instrument's finish will show the wear that comes with the experiences in creating...
I'd have to say my wife; she's the one who piqued my interest in the mandolin.
FWIW, I was expecting sheet music or tab when I clicked.
