    Trade forum? Classifieds?

Hi, I saw a "Trade" item once that I thought was a classified section, but I can't find it there or here. If I want to see if anyone wants to swap something for an Octave, where should it land?
  3. Re: About "musicality" (or whatever the correct description might

To everyone, thanks. There's so much here to absorb and mess with.

I'm really glad I asked -- it's helped me look at the next stage of the journey in a much more interesting way. Seriously,...
  4. Re: About "musicality" (or whatever the correct description might

Thanks, this and the blog post gave me a lot to unpack, it's right where my brain has been lately. I'm getting over trying to become faster or more technical and would rather let the songs breathe...
  5. About "musicality" (or whatever the correct description might be)

So, accomplished players, tell me about your journey developing into being able to play "musically" instead of just playing the instrument.

I've been at this long enough where I know a bunch of...
  6. Re: Fret buzz, Trinity College octave, not sure where to start

Thanks, will do, shaved the top of the saddle down a bit so I can adjust the slots to good depths without any of them getting too deep, ordered some maple for a shim and will do your check when I get...
  7. Re: Fret buzz, Trinity College octave, not sure where to start

That's probably the most clear and helpful reply I could get. Makes sense, thank you. This is the way.

Have a great week, thanks again.
  8. Re: Fret buzz, Trinity College octave, not sure where to start

to answer yes, the frets are level, the neck is straight

but I pulled the bridge and.... what am I seeing? Why are the 2nd string notches on the DAE strings deeper? Is that normal wear? If by...
  9. Fret buzz, Trinity College octave, not sure where to start

Hi, I'm about a year into mandolin, bought a near-new octave that had been very well set up by the previous owner about 8-9 months ago. It played perfect and doesn't lose its tune much if ever.

Re: Stringing question, new to octave

This is what I've ended up with as well, I think it runs 14, 23, 34, 49 (rather than 12 22 32 46) I like the way the G plays much better. The slop is gone.

    Thanks everyone for the help.

Re: Stringing question, new to octave

20 3/8 I think. Gonna try .048 from emando. I just don't want to be so shy about digging into the g course, but again I'm new. It could be me.

    Stringing question, new to octave

Hi, I have a new to me Trinity octave, I have only played mando.

The g course strings seem loose or soft. They are a new set of ddarios ej80. I have to somewhat baby them so they won't slap. It's...
  14. Re: Tips. exercises, approach to strumming while playing melody

    This is so accurate. ^

But in any case, and to answer Sherry

Take this video opening for example, and I do see the partial chords, which I think are years away for me (stuck with GOT theme)

    Hello,

TL/DR Would like to find exercises or strategy for strumming while playing melody over the top.

OK, I am about 3 months into mandolin. I don't have enough music background to quickly...
