    I ordered direct from D'Addario, yes I contacted them, yes those that live by the sea have to deal with rust, these were fresh from the factory.

    I ordered a bunch of New York Steel EJ 74's, they came in paper wrappers and some of them have rust/discoloration on them, I contacted customer service but I will only say it's possibly a phone call...

    A 57 is great, condensers give better performance. If you have the coin an AKG 214 or an Octava 12 are fab. Shure SM7 is a great mic for mando's. On the side of strange I use 2 Behringer ECM8000...
