That's fun, I love it! :mandosmiley:  :) Here's the embedded video:

Re: Bass guitar stays quiet !!!

:) Depends on how far back in banjo history one goes. The old gut-string predecessors of modern banjos aren't likely to be anywhere near as loud as modern steel-string banjos of the last 120+ years...

According to the Flat website pricing page:

    Re: Tab Software

I use MuseScore. They added tab-writing capability a few years ago. I didn't much like MuseScore at first, but either it's improved or I've gotten used to it. :whistling: Although I wasn't impressed...

Re: Youtube and Ookpik Waltz ownership

I'd say there's a possibility it's copyright trolls trying to make money off of *your* videos. :( Here's an older MandolinCafe thread about others' experiences with this sort of thing.

The following is just my perspective from what I've seen in earlier years. Might or might not be relevant today...

Re: Combination sound hole and a special carve?

    Cool! :mandosmiley: :)

I'm one of the (probably) minority who is *so* weary of the same-ol' same-ol' traditionally-accepted designs, grew up with that, way too many decades of unwitting...
  9. Re: I know that tune... um... how's it go again?

I'm assuming your songbook only has lyrics and chords, but no notes?

What I find helpful is to write down just the first few notes of each song or tune. If I forget how a tune goes, a super-quick...
  10. Re: Help! I can't hear the beat when I play a break

    Thanks David and Randi! :)

Also it seems that there's yet another (maybe more formal??) name for lead-in notes or pick-up notes: anacrusis. Although I've never heard any of my ragtag...

  14. Re: A likely contentious opinion on electric mandolins

  16. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

Late '90s, actually. :) "Bondi Blue" iMac (middle pic) came out in 1998, fruit colors (top pic) were announced in early 1999 (more info here). But that minor detail aside, I see your point! :) :))...

  22. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

U.S. didn't dive into WWII whole-hog until late in 1941. Then things ramped up for the war effort.

That is relevant since Gibson is a U.S. company and, in 1939 AFAIK there was *not* yet any...
