    Re: Mandolin with bridge pins

I always thought the tension from eight tight strings would pull the bridge off. I hope I am wrong. It's beautiful. Good luck with it.

  4. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

I always liked Marty Stuart's music. But before this series, I never realized how observant, analytical, insightful, articulate and artfully clever he is.

    Bravo!

    More Marty!!

    Re: Mandolins "Opening Up"

I recently began restoring an abused/neglected 1921 Bacon Artist that hadn't been played in ages -- decades, I'm guessing. When I put on new strings, it sounded almost muted on attack and had little...

Re: How do you clean your mandolin?

Re: Armrest for a Gibson J mandobass?

Some mandobassists use big felt picks, like those commonly used to play an autoharp, to cut noise when the pick lets off the string.

Re: Armrest for a Gibson J mandobass?

Most mandobassists use a pick. The armrest lets them position their right hands over the strings for picking.

Re: Armrest for a Gibson J mandobass?
