Re: Punch Brothers chords, tabs and notes

Here’s a less than perfect transcription of Flippen I did a few years ago.

Re: Tab and Music Notation Program

    Hi,

If you're interested, I just posted my almost-there Bombshell transcription on another thread:

  3. Re: Sierra Hull - Bombshell Tab *Only First 45 Seconds*

    Hi, looks good.

Through nothing more than habit, I prefer the abc notation and use the EasyABC software which can be found free on the web. This online editor is pretty good too:...

Re: Tab and Music Notation Program

I like abc, and in fact have a fairly complete transcription of Bombshell. Let me know if you would like me to post it.

    Re: hi from Scotland

Hi Alan, a quick hello from another Scot - from Edinburgh but now down south in St Albans. Where are you based? Did you know that Chris Thile's playing in Edinburgh in November?

    I hadn't heard of...

Re: Looking for Michael Patton's book of Manx music

I bought my lovely Gibson A5G from Michael, and have his email address somewhere.

PM me if you would like the address.

  7. Re: Can anyone TAB the intro to Soon or Never by Punch Brothers?

OK, here's my attempt at transcribing Flippen. I'd started out writing it as eighth notes which I find easier to read, so left it like that.

It's served its purpose in helping me to learn the...
  8. Re: Can anyone TAB the intro to Soon or Never by Punch Brothers?

    Thanks Mark, that's really helpful.

I'll have a go at finishing the Flippen transcription tonight and post it here.

    Cheers,

  9. Re: Can anyone TAB the intro to Soon or Never by Punch Brothers?

    Great transcription, thanks.

I'm interested in how to spot 12/8 time. I'd probably have assumed 4/4 - have never got my head round this.

On the same subject, I've transcribed Flippen to help me...

    Re: Chris Thile in London

So, just recovering from seeing Chris twice in a week, in very different settings!

The Wigmore Hall gig was really interesting. Chris opened with a few tunes on his own, opening with a slow...

    Re: Mandolin, Guitar, and Cello?

Just to add another point of reference, I saw Sarah Jarosz in Bedford, UK a few weeks ago and was really impressed by Nat Smith's cello playing. There are some great videos on youtube of the band -...

There's another interesting Andy Manson creation here on ebay.co.uk which someone might like to buy and report back on...

Is it OK to post a Sierra Hull transcription?

After seeing Sierra in a tiny pub in London (amazing!), I've been learning Bombshell.

To help me, I've transcribed the tune in standard notation (using abc) and would be keen to share it with...

    Re: O Santo De Polvora

    Hi,

I was wondering that too, but couldn't find it anywhere.

So I had a go at transcribing it and think I've got it pretty close. If you spot any mistakes let me know.

    I've attached the tune...
