    Hmmm, see post #22.
  3. Re: Best site for mando tabs? Specifically Dan Tyminski?

There's a pretty good inventory of tabs on this site, under Listen/Learn at the top of the page. Don't see that song there.

There is sheet music available for $. It may be in the Real Bluegrass...

    Re: Henderson mandolins

I'm really curious what was the 'old mandolin' that was traded.

Re: coolest shirt I ever had

Seems to me that with this earnest discussion, there's ones of dollars seeking to be made in a new run of shirts.
  6. Re: Wrecked fingers can't make 'block chords', time to quit?

Three finger chords are your friend. Take your time, you won’t be born full grown.
  7. Re: Gilchrist's D log mandolins, do I have one ?

There’s a build record on Gilchrist’s website. Search by serial number.

Re: Woke with a chord question

I find that what matters to me is finding the correct rootless chord in an unfamiliar key at jam tempo is an enormously challenging task. While I know 3 shapes for rootless m7b5 chords, if they’re...
  9. Re: Ultimate Vintage Snakeheadedness and Chocolatey Goodness

I love those cherry red Gibson, so beautiful. Let it’s sound come to you.

What a wonderful instrument you’ve found.
  10. Re: Best way to learn to play Smooth and Clean (not sloppy)?

Practice more cleanly and smoothly. That typically means slower. Pay attention to your dynamics, playing more quietly can help that.

Re: 5ths tuned chord progression source?

I’m sorting out those minor cadences right now, and this is great advice. Several ways to play them, but the one that you can handle in real time in a jam is invaluable.

Re: Mic and Equipment for playing live

I believe piezo pickups, if that's what you have, need to go through a DI box before PA or amp. But you need to describe your signal chain to get the best answer from folks more knowledgeable than...
  14. Re: Changing the strings on my new to me 2nd hand Gilchrist

    Welcome!

If you look at the line below the line starting with “Classfieds”, there a line starting “What’s New”. “Social Groups is just to the right. You’ll see the Strad-O-Lin group on that...

Re: Tell me about Ibanez mandolins

Wait for a bigger step, especially to a better, used instrument. An A style will provide the most bang for your buck.

    Re: Bourgeois M5A Mandolin

I remember they popped up around 2013 as well, and they were very nice right out of the gate. Have only gotten better.

    Re: Compressor?

Maybe on single coil instruments, but my humbucking equipped Arrow sets up really nicely and sounds very even across all 5 strings. Between careful string gauges and adjusting the poles, it sounds...

Re: 5ths tuned chord progression source?

Sadly, I heartily agree. While learning chords on my 5 string, I spent a while playing the chord scales around the circle of fifths and got reasonable facility with recognizing and changing chords...
  23. Re: I canít remember if learning guitar was this hard

Lots of good advice here, hopefully this is a little more.

Be patient with yourself. Its hard to be born full grown, so let it come to you a bit.

As mentioned earlier, chop chords are easier...
