Re: The Traveling Pick Sampler - Anyone Interested?

Well as fate would have it I received Wooq's info 15 minutes after I sent the sampler to Roger. Sorry Wooq but I hadn't heard from you since my PM on noon Saturday. I don't know how LowNSlow wants to...

Re: The Traveling Pick Sampler - Anyone Interested?

Sampler1 is now on the way to Roger Moss since I never heard from MandoMN18 or Wooq. It was sent by priority mail w/tracking and the expected delivery date is this Thursday. Thanks to all who...

Re: The Traveling Pick Sampler - Anyone Interested?

So far I've received no PM response from MandoMN18 or Wooq. Next in line after them is Roger Moss who promptly responded yesterday (thank you Roger). I'll give it 1 more day and if I haven't heard...

Re: The Traveling Pick Sampler - Anyone Interested?

I received sampler 1 from Tangleweeds today. I plan to send it out to the next person on Monday but that's dependant on whether or not I have an address to send it to. MandoMN18 is next in line...

Re: The Traveling Pick Sampler - Anyone Interested?

I sent Tangleweeds my address info. As soon as I receive the sampler I plan to have it in route to the next person the following day. If MandoMN18 doesn't respond then I'll try wooq.

Re: Extended fretboards are they a nuisance?

I've never understood them either and I've never seen anyone play up there. I know I'm going to be corrected because I'm sure somebody does....but what percentage of players? It has to be less than...

Re: Number one or number two?

The recording quality really doesn't lend itself to a fair comparison. Tone is very subjective anyway. Which one sounds better to you....that's all that matters.

    Re: Pick guard advice

You might try to contact Saga and see if you can get an original pick guard.
  11. Re: Please tell me about radius vs flat fingerboards

Sorry about that, it worked when I posted it because I checked it. Anyway you can click on "advanced search" and enter "radiused vs flat" in the keyword box and also check "search titles only" in the...

Re: Solid Wood - Back and Sides?

I'd say ideally I would rather have have solid back and sides but you're probably right about most of the tone coming from the top. I used to have a Blueridge acoustic guitar (BR-60) and it had a...
  13. Re: what % humidity to leave your mando/guitar out?

Whatever humidity level you decide on make sure you calibrate your hygrometer. I'm a cigar smoker and have owned several to keep in my humidors but I've never had one that was accurate right out of...

Re: F vs A strap balance

I've never owned an F model but I tried tying under the fretboard extension on my A model and never could get comfortable with the balance. I felt like I was constantly fighting to hold the neck up....

    Re: Pick Guards attached

I'm with you and only like the abbreviated style made of ebony with no binding. I had Robert at Folkmusicians install one on my Eastman 505 and I'm pleased with it.
  19. Re: Can anyone offer any Fiddle help?... sorry no Mando content

That's a good outfit for the price and should serve her well. It comes with D'addario Preludes and they'll be fine for starting out. In the beginning stages I wouldn't get all caught up in the string...

Re: Has D'Addario changed the Flat Wounds?

Are you sure youre not thinking about EFT-74's? Those are called flat tops and not flat wound and I believe the A is wound on those. As far as I know the EFW-74's have never had a wound A string.
  21. Re: Can anyone offer any Fiddle help?... sorry no Mando content

Either of those instruments from Fiddlerman would be fine for getting your feet wet and they have the best customer service you will find anywhere. I purchased a bow from them about a year ago and...
