Re: Crafter Mandolin Bridge lifting up...Fixed

It is hard for me to describe soooo I found this on a web page that had compared them on the same instrument. I do agree with their assessment. Both are great strings, it just depends on the...

Re: Crafter Mandolin Bridge lifting up...Fixed

It plays well and of course it has a different sound which I do like. I also like a larger fret which this does not have so I am fumbling with it a bit at the moment. I also only had nickel strings...

    Crafter Mandolin Bridge lifting up...Fixed

I purchased a nice Crafter Acoustic-electric mandolin at a great price with a bridge that was warped and lifting up. A small amount of curvature with the top was also occurring.

    Lifting is a...

  6. Re: My first attempt at a Octave Mandolin from a 3/4 guitar

    Hey Larry,
    Nice conversion!

I had two sets I was not using so that is what went on.

    I like the way the...
  7. Re: My first attempt at a Octave Mandolin from a 3/4 guitar

Thank you all for the comments. The action is very good with no string buzz at the 12th fret. The g string is a little too light, but I an getting some heavier strings this week. Intonation is...
  8. My first attempt at a Octave Mandolin from a 3/4 guitar

The results of my first try. I did it the cheap and easy way to see if it makes any kind of music and it does. For a cheap guitar (I have a better 3/4 on the way) it sounds much better that it did...

  11. Re: Building an octave Mandolin using a Yamaha APXT2

Since I work on Guitars I am looking to use a 12 string tail piece from a hollow body and a...
  12. Re: Building an octave Mandolin using a Yamaha APXT2

Well I did find one of the Jay Turners in a Natural color for 50$ so it will be the first donor guitar for this project.

It should be in next week.

    :)
  13. Re: Building an octave Mandolin using a Yamaha APXT2

    Hey John.

Interesting.... I will have to give that some thought.

Also I just found a Jay Turner 3/4 with a 19" scale and a 38mm nut. It also has space for adding two tuners without re drilling...
  14. Re: Building an octave Mandolin using a Yamaha APXT2

    Thank you Allen.

  15. Re: Building an octave Mandolin using a Yamaha APXT2

    Hello John.

    Thank you for the info.

    Large fret Mandolins

I have found that playing a large fret with a radiused fretboard mandolin fits me well.

    Michael Kelly Group

Since I am a renegade and like my Michael Kelly I hear there is a group of fellow
    MK players.

Is it on this site or somewhere else on the Web?

    Thanks!
