    Re: Woodstock

    I wasn’t there.

I actually didn’t know anything about it until the festival was taking place, and only then because of the news coverage. None of my friends had a clue either.

Re: Mandolins for 6k and under?

There’s a 1994 Randy Wood F5 for sale on Reverb. It’s overbudget at $6495 but you can always make an offer. I really like the sound of Randy Wood mandolins. About 5 years ago, I was able to look at...

    Re: Long term band

You could always use the popular Willis Alan Ramsey quote when asked when he was going to do a second album. His reply was “What’s wrong with the first one?”

    Re: Musician Jokes

Is that the cue for the banjo player to play the same thing again?
  10. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

No, it's not about mandolins or guitars, but this article from 2001 has a pretty telling story:

Do you think Martin is pleased that they’re promoting “Authentic” guitars? Think I’ll comply and drag out a D-18 1937 Authentic.

How cool is that! Good find!
  13. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

Just a little bit of extra information. One item I didn't know or overlooked was that Gibson sent a letter to Dean and Luna dealers.

  16. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

I have nothing to back this up, but I don’t believe this video or Gibson’s desire to retain/regain ownership rights to certain design elements will impact or affect the average stringed-instrument...

If I understand correctly, most companies pay for product placement in television and movies.

Re: Storage: Case vs Hanging on the Wall

It might be interesting to determine whether price sensitivity plays a role as well. For example, how many owners of Gilchrist, Nugget, and Monteleone, or even Loar-era Gibson mandolins leave them in...
