Hmmmm. Just told Siri to play Blue Kentucky Girl. Not Bluegrass.
Since buying an Eastman a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been listening to a lot of mandolin music. So far, I really like David Grisman and Chris Theile. Who else should I be listening to? So far, I think...
Oh I’m not saying Taylor’s are in the same level with Collings. I. Just not a fan of very bright guitars. And in all fairness, my experience with Collings is very limited.
I’ve never gotten used to the sound of their guitars. I keep seeing them highly praised, so I pick one every time I get a chance. Bright. Like loud Taylors, without the chime that is Taylor’s charm....
I’m new to this, so I like whichever course I’m fretting cleanly at the moment. FWIW, the courses of my cheap Eastman seem to be pretty balanced.
Guitar players have been “improvising” by playing the same licks over and over for decades. It’s a time-honored tradition.
That sounds like a good plan.
Some decent wood, too.

I don’t know who makes them, but these are really pretty for a budget instrument. I love the pearl buttons.

More to come. I have great light this morning.
Nice. Being a little old man musician, I have an appreciation of little old lady musicians.

Yes they do. I can’t speak for mandos, but my Eastman acoustic, a mahogany Adirondack OM, is a really good guitar. Not “good for the money,” good. Very good. And my two electrics - one of...
I bought a strap with it, but there’s no button, and the strap didn’t include a piece of leather to tie it off with. I’ll get a button, that’s what I’m used to. Strap over one shoulder or around the...

...and she sure is pretty. I’ve been saying 808, but it’s an Eastman 805. I’m an Eastman guitar owner - 2 electrics and an acoustic, so I was expecting clean workmanship, and I got it. Very...
Why not? Wouldn’t inversions from the guitar’s EADG just be flipped over? My Mando arrives today. I’m counting on that as my quick-start guide....
Yeah, “my e string comes off is definitely a first world problem, and I hear y’all: experiment with strings and picks, nothing else really needs upgrading.
An Eastman 808 is on its way. Should arrive tomorrow.
Fair enough. What about strings? 11s? Phosphor bronze a good place to start? And I ordered a couple of Dawg picks to try the round tip thing, have enough small, stiff Dunlop Primetone Jazz to try...
Anti-enabling. How unusual.
I’m going to need a smaller string winder, huh?
Will my guitar tuners work?
What is the virtue of an armrest?
This is a very cool design. Anybody using one?...
I’m s big believer in simple preamps and small powered PA speakers. I’ve never owned an “acoustic amp.”
I have a Yamaha mixer and some QSC actives, but I need to be able to get it sorted ay my end. Too many House PAs. I need to count on nothing but volume from them.
I recently ordered my first Mando from these folks. They weren’t answering the phone on Labor Day, but returned my call, took my order and shipped it the next day. Noe I need to forget where they...
I’m very confused. Every preamp I’ve owned added gain to the signal.
