    Re: Weber Bitterroot F-5

Another consideration would be a flat vs radiused fingerboard. I had a couple of Gibsons but when I played the Weber with the radiused fingerboard, I was hooked on that.

    Re: Weber Bitterroot F-5

I have a 2004 Weber (Mahogany/Cedar) that is awesome. Also had a more recent Bedell A model that I sold to a friend that was an absolute cannon.

My experience with the Bozeman Webers is that they...

AI has been doing the analytics on what songs are most "popular" with the advertisers for years, resulting in the playlists we have today. The stations are not manned by actual people, just...

And yet every town has a "Classic Rock" station burning you out to the tunes you burned out to all those yers ago, and the new rock styled "music schools" use the same songs to teach children with.

Re: To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade?

My last "upgrade" was not a higher end mandolin, but one more suited for use in the current group I am playing in. I had it built to my specifications using neck measurements from one I really liked...

In the music industry, the writer gets the lion's share of the proceeds, followed by the artist. Most of the "acts" we see in the big venues are not "organic", but constructed as vehicles to make...

Re: Tuner Pedal vs. Headstock Tuner

In a live setting prefer a pedal tuner, but I use it using short cables on the insert jacks on the amp, and the pedal, (along with a couple of others on a very small pedalboard), stay on top of the...

    Gravity Pick Tripp 4

I tried this one at a gig last weekend. Worked great for acoustic and electric guitar and mandolin on the rounded side. They are on sale so I thought I would pass this one.

The TC Unitune Clip is nice because it works well, and folds back so it does not look like a small TV on the headstock. Battery life is great.

Why not use an A/B switch and a line splitter?
  14. Re: Speakers/Monitors (no mando content)

Are you playing the bass exclusively through the mains?

If that is the case, get yourself a small bass amp with a DI out.

The QSC CP8's would be a good choice as they match the rest of your...
  15. Re: What are the chances that a moderately-priced mandolin sounds

FWIW, I have a couple of very high end mandolins that mostly live in the case. I take them out on occasion and they need a few hours of playing to wake up.

    Re: used mandolin nut setup

This may or may not help

Use some graphite in the nut slots and on the bridge. Keeps the strings from binding and prevents some of the breakage problems.

Re: How to de-skunk a mando?

I would start with a good cleaning with Dunlop 654.

Just did a banjo for a friend and wiped off about 2 cartons of Marlboros. Made a huge difference in the smell and color of the instrument.
