Re: Tied notes in TablEdit - How?

Hank, click on the second note that you want to tie to and press "L".

However TablEdit will only let you tie to the same note so the only pair in your example will be the final note and its...

    Re: Tuner...not Tuners

Snarks here. Red and Black. Don't think I've changed the batter in either; I just remember to turn it off when I've tuned :)
  3. Re: Good non standard string buying advice in UK?

Yes, they'll make a custom set for you: if you mention the scale length they'll also make the strings long enough in case you scale is longer than a "standard" mandola.

    Re: "Dark" Fiddle Tunes?

I'd echo some of the above suggestions including Da Slockit Light and Ashokan Farewell. How about Niel Gow's farewell to Whisky, Calum's Road or some more O'Carolan such as Blind Mary, O'Carolan's...

    Re: Dots or no dots

I just use the side dots; fretboard dots are useful to help work out what some else is playing :)

    Re: Help with budget mandolin.

As you’ve probably discovered mandolins are few and far between over here. Don’t know where you’re located but Hobgoblin stock the Ashbury range....

Re: 8 string solid body playability

I’m very happy with my Ashbury https://hobgoblin.com/ashbury-am-240-solid-body-electric-mandolin

Came perfectly set up out of the box and comfortable, to me at least, to play.

    Re: Notation to Tablature

I'd do as Michael suggests and get Tabledit. I've tried and failed to learn notation and now use Tabledit to convert notation to a legible :) format.

Easy to learn and well worth the money. I also...

    Re: Musician Jokes

Totally agree, I’ve even gone to the extent of editing out the spoken parts when they get too annoying on some tracks in my collection.
  14. Re: Tuning for Eastwood airline Octave mandola

If you put your current strings, scale length and tuning into http://stringtensionpro.com/ it will suggest a string set that will give the same feel as the current set and tuning. If you’re lucky...

Re: What's this then -electric Bandurria?

Whatever it is I’m sure someone will be along in a minute to ask what the point of it is! :))
  16. Re: A likely contentious opinion on electric mandolins

There’s probably a pedal of some sort that will do that. They seem to do most things these days.

And it would complete the circle
  17. Re: A likely contentious opinion on electric mandolins

Why do I play electric mandolin?

Like any other instrument. Because I can*.

I originally got mine for quiet practice but it gives me a palette of sounds that I can’t get from a guitar or...

  20. Re: Anyone know what mandolin he’s playing?

Thanks jfiction and apologies to Bob; the first set of Breedloves I found had the name on the headstock but more diligent searching found ones with the logo.
  21. Re: Anyone know what mandolin he’s playing?

Thanks Bob, that’s what I thought but the headstock logo seems wrong. The Breedloves I’ve seen have the word on it, this has what looks like a backwards C
  22. Anyone know what mandolin he’s playing?

Apparently he’s only been playing for 6 months! :disbelief:
  23. Re: Advice about Bouzoukis' prices and value.

Have a look at the Ashbury range. I had the Octave Mandolin in the same range as this https://www.scayles.co.uk/ProductDetails?ID=Mjc1Mg== which had a lovely tone. I only sold it because I wasn't...

    Re: Mandolin Stand Recommendations

It depends on how you want to use it for and how likely pets, children or other family members are likely to knock it over! I’ve got a variety of stands.

    One similar to this:...

I get mine from Newtone. You can specify loop or ball end as required. https://newtonestrings.com/
