I just wanted to revisit this thread to say thanks to everyone that contributed.
@Explorer, I got the complete method today. Already I feel like it has given me some direction. I have to admit...
@Explorer, thank you very much for this suggestion. I think it's a great idea! I checked out some of the sample pages of the books, and I think they'd be super helpful.
Do you mind if I ask you.....
@fox, I had no idea about the relationship. Very cool! You learn something new every day, as they say.
@Huck That sounds great. Thank you very much for the advice. And how has it been working out...
@fox: Hal Leonard's Tenor Guitar Method.
And you live in Guersney? Cool! I understand the difficulties of island confinement, I just moved to La Réunion (tiny french island in the indian ocean). I...
Hey all,
I've had a tenor for a few months now. I spent some time getting acquainted with it. Now I have all main chord shapes down, can strum and pick, play various fiddles tunes, etc. But I...

Yeah, I am very fortunate both to be a partner who makes me so happy...
Hey Gunnar, I'm admittedly not even really a banjo fan (generally speaking), but I found your song and your playing to be awesome! Good stuff, keep it up. And dare I even say, don't hesitate to post...
My girlfriend and I recorded this during a roadtrip from my hometown (Missoula MT) to where she lives (St Louis, MO). Admittedly, it's not mandolin content, but I hope you all can enjoy regardless! I...
Pas de souci. Je comprends maintenant. Et merci pour tes réponses! Ma guitare est arrivée avec beaucoup de cordes supplémentaires, meme quelques .22w. Donc la prochaine fois que je change les cordes...
Just so I'm clear, you mean it won't do any harm, right??
Haha just want to double check! I appreciate the help!
Thanks so much for the replies everyone! I'm having a ton of fun with it, and I can't stop playing.
I can't wait to try recording this thing with a better mic and also to try out the pickup. That...
I am thrilled to say that I just received my first tenor guitar a 2016(?) Martin TEN515.
And I owe a huge thank you to Cafe member pheffernan, who first made me aware of this guitar and helped me...
Wow, I really enjoyed this. That was fantastic.
If I were in your shoes (this is just for me personally), I might look for an electric tenor guitar. You can have it tune the same as an octave mandolin, so you'll be familiar with all the shapes and...
Hey,
Nope, I haven't had any issues at all with mine! In fact, I recently restrung it and it sounds as good as the day I got it.
I can't tell you the differences in the production and models,...
You're definitely right to go with an A-style mandolin if you want the most bang for your as far as quality and playability goes. Even for under $500 you can score some pretty sweet A-style mandolins...
Glad you enjoyed Montana! That's where I'm from and, like you, I love the sights it has to offer. I have never had a chance to check out their workshop, but I'd certainly love to do so.
Thanks...
Hey I just wanted to post again to thank everyone for their help and advice. Everytime I ask for advice here, I'm reminded that this is a positive, communal forum and that's why I keep coming back. ...
Ohh, that's good to know. And speaking of instrument/case size, do any of you have experience traveling with a tenor guitar or an OM? How does this usually get treated by the airlines? Are you able...
@pheffernan. Thanks for posting that video! It was cool to see those in action.
From my experience playing OM's, I definitely prefer the single course tenor guitars, probably just because I feel...
Thanks once again, those links are very helpful. As is everything you wrote.
And yeah, I've been scouring the internet, mostly just trying to get an idea of the market and where to buy. If I'm...
@pheffernan Thanks for once again bringing some insight to one of my threads! Given that I don't know much about tenor body sizes, would you might going a bit more in depth regarding the 0 through 5...
Thanks a lot! I have seen a good bit of his stuff. Actually the video I linked in my initial post is from Jake's page, though I didn't realize he had a whole backlog that I could sift through like...
Thanks for the input, you guys. I appreciate it.
Anyone else with experience with vintage stuff? I'd love to hear about it!
