Thank you for the responses. I do plan to find a teacher but not right away. The real-time feedback is very good but I like to approach an instrument in my own way for a period of time until my ideas...
I just picked up a Fiddlershop Concert violin (#2 in the video below), my first violin. I'm just assuming that I can use my scales, chords and arpeggio books for mandolin with the violin?

There's no finish on the bottom of the bridge. Honestly though, it doesn't bother me at all because I don't plan on selling it. It fits me and my playing style not to mention it's beautiful to look...
I love my new Morris mandolin but I just took the strings off to give it a good cleaning and oil the fretboard. The removable bridge obviously comes up but underneath it, I was surprised to find that...
I'm looking to find some really good tuners for my recent Morris mando purchase. I'm not sure if the current tuners are Chrome or Nickel but I do like the way they look. I would be open to Pearl as...

I'm also going to learn this version. I wish I had music for it that showed all of his chord voicings during the verse. Slowing it down will help, good tip and I'm glad you all appreciated the post....
I'm looking to acquire a few different sources of mandolin music which include audio versions of the songs for reference, preferably with tablature but at least with chords. I'm looking for Celtic,...

Well I received the Morris and I love it! :mandosmiley: Seeing as it came with an armrest, which I've never had... the first thought was... "That looks like a chin rest on a violin... it's tuned like...
Thanks, I'm sure I will. It apparently has a steel rod in the neck.
Thanks, I think so too. My concerns were addressed and I'm pretty excited about it now.
I just bought the Morris A4 :mandosmiley:
Thanks for all of the feedback, comments and suggestions!!!
I just received a reply on the Morris but looked at the ad again and he's removed the 2 armrest and extra tuners. Different pic also (1st one looked better IMO).
Probably going back to the Kentucky KM-272. I know the Morris and Red Valley may play and sound great but taking away the truss rod adjustment... I don't think I want to chance that. The mandolin...
Hmmm... I may skip on that.
Well I just read that Morris mandolins don't have truss rods. Is that true???
Yeah you can't touch a Gibson for less than $1500-$1600
I've received a response about the Red Valley but holding out for the Morris. Not sure why they haven't responded. Nothing in Spam. I may just hold off and see what comes up.
That's the one I'm most interested in but I can't get anyone to respond to their classified ads!?!? What the heck???
I've message the seller on the Morris and also the Red Valley and haven't heard a response from either one of them
Gee, I hadn't thought of that.
It's... a... question...
I'm familiar with purchasing instruments. ;)
Does anyone know the nut width of the Morris? I can't find a website.
Yeah, I'm probably just going to order one through their online store.
I talked with the owner today at the mandolin store. He is actually in the process of having dual medical procedures, transplants... and obviously is going to have to be very cautious with the...
