So I got this K1 a few months back. It plays and sounds great!
It has a lot of well documented repairs that were done by Bernie Daniel. There is a great thread on how he repaired the sagging top....
One of my favorite mandolin ensemble pieces.
We played it at the CMSA convention a few years back
I have a 1920 A2. My FON is 11339
Joe, Looking forward to your blues workshop this year.
I paid $1500 for my 1920 A2 last year.
Also, all original with the case.
Love them on my 514, did not like them on my bowlback.
As some have said, it depends on the instrument
I've never had a problem taking mine as carry on. Last time I flew (American Airlines), they let a guy carry on his electric bass in a soft case and he put it in the overhead storage...no questions...
Definitely none here in southern NM. I know of only 2 other people here in town that have a mandolin. I have been able to get with one and play a few duets (mostly John Goodin tunes :D ) and the...
Only 2 weeks until the convention!
Like a kid at Christmas....Can't hardly wait for it to get here, and will be over too soon.
Nice mandolin. I've never played one myself, but I've heard quite a few. They all sounded wonderful. I'm sure yours will too
I ended up buying a double tennis racquet bag for my old Gibson. It fit perfect and now when I travel I'll have a shoulder strap to carry it.
Looks just like the one I had. Solid spruce top, laminated back and sides. It was a pretty heavy mandolin.
Mine said Made in Japan on the label, and all I could ever find out was that it was made in...
Mine arrived too. So Many Tunes ! Think I'll be taking it to the printers and have a coil binding put on it.
And I had the Vista Cruiser ! Gold with wood-grain accents
I've been wanting one for years also, and when I finally could afford one I had a hard time choosing. There was this A2, a real nice whiteface A3 and a couple A jr's out there on the market. I...
1920 It's an easy player. Totally different sound from my other mandolins.

It would be great to always try before you buy, but living in the middle of nowhere can put a damper on that, and I agree...more money that can be spent on the instrument instead of travel.
My last...
I have the Merry melodies and Maart's Fairport book too. ( He wrote me a nice little note too that said I received the last copy of the Fairport book.)
Hitting a new tab right now so I can order...
Love my Eastmans! ....I've had my 514 for 11 years now....It's a keeper
Have had my bowlback for 2 1/2....It's been my daily player since I got it.
Sound, ease of play, fit & finish are great on...
Got my room booked...looking into flights.
My 12 year old son wants to go and play this year too !
Kentucky 140.....sold
Aria PM-780.....sold to by a better fiddle
A-C bowlback.....sunken top but playable....gave to the oldest son to play around with
Clifford-American mandolinetto...had it...
As always...Thanks for the new tunes. They are so much fun to play
Mine measures 1 1/8" at the nut, 13 3/8 scale length, Flat fretboard, with a V shaped neck and all solid wood construction.
There is a video on youtube showing the construction of one.
I don't...
