I love the Weber tone and have played/owned some great ones. The only concern I would have is the neck profile. I find it to be too large for me but they can be perfect for the right hands.

I understand the hassles of custom work all too well but it's a shame that's not an option anymore. I love mine!

I think it's a question of what mid-level pricing means to you. I think you can find a good pancake OM in the $1500 range & the same for an archtop.

I have a mandobird with an Almuse pickup that sounds great. I also get good results from blade magnet pickups like Jonathan Mann uses.
