This is a website with some interesting uses and possibilities. It is also available as an app.
The app has a built in metronome, too.

Re: Help - Right hand wrist speed question

I just read through this whole thread. I only understood about half—or maybe an 1/8th of it. Or was it 1/16th?

But, thanks, Simon. I guess you were serious. So, you’re just playing beats for each...

    “That’s it.
Do this for an hour. You will be glad you did.”

I don’t quite understand your instructions....and that laughing emoji makes me wonder if you are serious. If you are, could you explain...

    https://youtu.be/Tv70oMuUl34

Here’s a catchy little tune in Bb from Russ Barenberg. “Jump Back Barley.” It’s my most recently learned tune. I have no idea why Russ chose Bb, but there are a few...

These look interesting, but do you have recordings we could listen to?

  11. Re: Sound: opinions sought on technique vs instrument, i.e. anti-

Can’t disagree with that, Bill, but if you sound good on an Eastman, you’ll sound better on a Loar...or a Collings, or whatever.

This will be an open ended conversation. I won’t go through my own...

    Re: Which bridge?

My fingers get sore just looking at those knurled nuts! Why don’t they use hex nuts like Vern Brekke does? (Another choice for you—Brekke traditional. You can adjust next nuts while strung up.)

    Re: Damaged Martin 2-20 ( I think)

“If it came to me, I would convert it to an oval hole.”

Man, that sounds like a great idea! With a carved top, right? Does a Martin oval-hole like that exist?

Some very odd string spacing at the bridge, if you ask me. Like a nice blue zither.

    Useful Tip For Changing Strings

If you are like me (and I know I am), changing strings on your mandolin is not your favorite task. I’ve been doing it successfully for 40 years, or so, but I often wish I had a third hand (one that...
