Re: Halsey mandolin, fiddle and bow

I think Santa needs to bring me one of those Timms shaped cases. I've been threatening that for a while now.

Re: In search of a mandolin...

I also come from the violin and fiddle background. Like you, I really never found the sound on mandolin until I got into the much better instruments. I think it's really interesting to hear you say...

Re: Heiden Artist Plus A model mandolin

That's a beautiful instrument! I do like the more traditional A style headstock as well, that's what's on mine #92. I'm not super familiar with the model distinctions for Heiden. What is an Artist...

    Re: Monel strings

Thanks for the discount code and the recommendation. I liked the D'As but was disappointed they were not offering the mixed medium set in Monel. I'm sure I could have played the mix and match game,...

    Re: Ok, who dunnit?

I'm pretty sure that's the same one he had at Mandolin Symposium in 2009. That was a beast of an instrument.
  11. Re: Best selections of mandolins near Houston TX

As others have said, Fullers is the one shop in Houston that will have a selection to play. Note that their entire inventory is not online, although the new stuff is mostly Eastman. My last few...

Ellis just finished the first A style Tradition model. There are more to come.

    Re: Ok, who dunnit?

I have no doubt it will be excellent. I was at Mandolin Symposium the year Gilchrist was passing around the first of these. I couldn't believe what he achieved with that instrument. Play it and...

    Ok, who dunnit?

A beautiful Gilchrist Model 1 hit the classifieds and Carter e-mail blast today and by the time I called (let's call it an hour after the e-mail went out) I was told it was sold! So fess up! Who...
