I agree with Pete,,I took off a not to old set of Sam Bush monels,,and replaced them with the new Nickel Bronze set,,really,,couldn't tell much difference,,I would not have wanted to take a blindfold...
lol,,nope,,that makes it a little easier I suppose,,
lol,,nope,,that offsets the hurt a little,,
Early 80's Stiver kept it for 16 years,,divorce got it,,sold to a gent in Pennsylvania I believe,,gosh,,it was the best mandolin I ever owned,,,beast,,,would love to have her back,,I hope shes still...
Has anybody else saw the ad on facebook about D'addario sending out new sets of prototype mandolin strings for trial,,it looks legit,,suppose to send out medium set and then you fill out a question...
It seems that the prior owner of my mando at one time has attempted to raise the treble side of the bridge without loosening the strings,,now the thumbscrew or the screw itself is stripped,,the nut...
I've owned one of the Petersons,,it was ok,,hard to get it to settle,,somethings I've always found with strobe type tuners,,I'll settle for the old Snark,,close enough for bluegrass,,lol.
Thanks guys,,,I did place an order with amazon,,maybe its time to start experimenting for an alternative.
Ive always liked them for my arthritic hands,,but,,cannot find them anywhere,,does anyone know if Gibson has discontinued them,,or a seller who still carries them,,thanks to all.
I have a Passerniq F which appears to has a stock Gibson type tailpiece,,Im really wanting to change it out to a Bill James model,,wondering if the mounting holes will be the same,,if not,,is it a...

Yes,,I apologize,,the side height,,,
After seeing my Yellowstone beside a Gibson and a BRW mandolin,,I noticed how much thinner the body was,,Im sure Bruce knows mandolins as good as anyone,,and the tone is super,,just wondering if its...
It seems theres always another popping up,,which makes us all happy,,just wondering how many more may be in the closet?
I love them on my BRW,,last a very long time,,seem to stay in tune fairly well,,its either them or the great J74s.
What procedure short of refinishing is possible to change a gloss nitro lacquer finish to a less shiny satin finish,,just on the top of the mando?
I have simply soldered the ends on the unwound J74s,,simple to do,,takes less than a minute to do four strings,,never had any trouble with them after that.
it was buzzing when fretting around the fifth fret,,so I raised until you could really dig into into the e strings without getting that buzz and ping around the fifth and seventh fret.
After raising the action at the bridge to take out buzziness on the chop,,the bottom two sets really are tight,,doesn't seem that high of an action, but compared to other mandos I've had and played...
Hands down,,for the money,,best I've ever used,,works very well,,very satisfied with it.
I got one of the Dude's,,super quality,,works great and super to look at also,,
Hey Bob,,sorry about your bad break,,I broke mine,,or a seat belt did last year in a head on collision, walked around three weeks with it before I thought I should have an orthopedic look at it,,it...
I met Dempsey Young twice,,always a gentleman,,open to questions,,quick to answer,,and to help,,the mandolin worlds misses a Master!
I've always wondered,,I guess the loars were much that way,,its just seems like the bridge would look better if it was in the center of the sunburst area,,some builders do it that way others dont,,no...
