Here are the pickups on my mando... I used then for all concerts last year and it was great.
Nice instrument !
Nicely done. Why did you choose ashwood (frêne) ? For the beauty of the wood or some acoustic properties ?
And why didn't you swap the white plastic toggle from the selector with...
Here's another pick up....
It works very well too !

I use a fc'g'd'' tuned mandolin to play with a Bflat clarinet player : I can play his scores easily this way (when the clarinet plays a C it sounds Bflat, as do my mando tuned this way.)
I always use d'Addario J67 (I use these strings on my Kasuga as well).

Here's the test of my pickup.
I play the original mic first, then I play my homemade pick up.
My gauge : 0.063. In fact, my counter does not work as well as expected, so the number of turns may be between 7000 & 10000 ! The resistance is 5,6 K.

162797 and the pickup is almost done.
Yesterday, I succeeded in building a counter, using a cheap pocket calculator and a magnetic contact used for house alarms...
And it work's ! My winder will be an old sewing machine...
I will share...
Thanks... In fact, I'm exactly ot this stage : the winding !

Hello, I'm looking for informations about homemade pickup for e-mando.
I planned to built my own pickuo (to replace the pickups on my Clearwater mandolin).
Up...
No report ?
Even on emando.com ???
So bad !
I have quite the same instrument (with the Clearwater brand).
It need a full setup and a new set of pickups to be a decent mando, but if you can do it by yourself, it worth it...
Here's the second part. I transpose it too, in order to preserve the feeling.

I'm working on the last parts of this wonderful tune ! I'll post the tabs as soon as it will be ready. :mandosmiley:
The original version was a little too difficult for me... So I transpose this tune 3 semitones lower... It makes it a lot easier !
The result is in the attachment.

Some years ago, I began to play indian music with a sitar player. I wrote down some data I find from the internet and other books (Ravi Shankar autobiography and some other books) to have a...
:grin:My son was playing with my wahwah pedal when I was playing the mandolin... (His top head appears at the end of the video)...
I thought it was funny, so I don't re-record the tune...
Another vids with this pickup :

No weak E string with the agressor. (The mando is a Moongazer "Déjà Vu" kit).
I use a 5 pole Agressor pickup on these vids :

I like this pickup. It has a very high output level.
If you play this tune, it will obviuosly sound familiar to you... But is it really a ragtime ?
It seems so...
I love the little picture right under the soundhole of these waldzithers !

I finished the refurbishing of this waldzither last week... I'm just waiting for the string to start playing it !

I learn the mandolin using Mr Gatherer advices...
Thank you, Nigel :)
