That's a good sound coming from that bass. Not at all electric!

Re: Post a picture of what's on your bench?

These look great, Jacob! Very cool three point, too - and with a G-5 peghead, yet!
~ Also, that's some pretty picking you're doing over there on your originals. The first I heard the you tube "Muddy...
  6. Re: Smith Creek F-5, H-5 and A-5 Plans/Drawings

Thanks for sharing these. I am wondering though, what, if any improvement/gain was achieved as a result of using the larger, and more 'upright' mandolin f-holes on the mandola?

  8. Andy Statman Rides the Monroe Bus

Brilliant! Any release from Andy is good news, and judging by the 'Monroe Bus' track, this one also promises to deliver plenty of Andyness. Congratulations on the new album - it's a winner!

    Re: D'Addario Monel Strings !

"Does anyone know if the 11.5 E and 16 A will be available within these sets?
The medium and medium+ are the only DA Monel sets that I've seen".

You may have started something with that question,...

Re: Double Stop Fiddle Shop Lost to Fire

What a relief, and thanks for the update. That case, though.. doesn't look very Calton-ey. More Mark Leaf-ey to my eye..
Maybe I just never saw one that looked like that. I stand to be corrected.

    Re: D'Addario Monel Strings !

These are not Mangan Monel, and neither are the Martin version. As far as the monel sets comparison goes, here are the results of my experience (2 cents-worth: Martin are okay, D'Addario are...

    Re: D'Addario Monel Strings !

I remember how that was for me over there, and can't believe it's still this way.. I feel your pain, Ivan. I fixed the problem by moving to the US. I know..but it was worth it just for the strings!

    Re: "Dawg Daze"

Dawg Daze: I remember sitting at the front tables at a fund-raiser for/at The Freight and Salvage in 1989 when Dawg debuted this song.
Playing it solo, he called it, "Ode To The Freight And...

    Re: Monel users.....

My E strings didn't snap, they just came unravelled at the loop end. You may find this hard to believe, but the second one began to come undone while tuning before a jam party, and by some miracle...

Sounds like you're doing okay, Mark! It does get easier with time and practice, though - don't you find? :mandosmiley:
