    Harrison Straps

I bought a leather strap from Northfield around 5 years ago. I absolutely love it! It's gotten super soft over the years. I wanted to get a couple more for my A3 & dola but they show "out of stock"...

    Re: James tailpiece engraving

It looks like Weldon engraves and then re-plates them:

    Re: James tailpiece engraving

I had a gentleman name Bob Rosser engrave just the brand name and he was very quick and affordable. It came out great....his info is on his website: hand-engravers.com

    Weldon Lister does some...
  7. Re: Northfield archtop OM - can anyone measure the neck for me?

Hey Melt_In_The_Sun....I see you are in Tucson as well! I had a NF Octave and did feel the neck was a little beefy. I switched to an Austin Clark and it's a lot slimmer.

    Re: Church Praise Band Question

I play twice a week at a Catholic church. Usually piano, guitar and myself. Sometimes we add a double bass. No bluegrass...unfortunately.

Re: To Speed Neck or Not to Speed Neck

I think it depends on your environment. I wish I had one in high humidity conditions when my neck gets to feeling sticky. I'm glad I don't when humidly is low. I live in the desert so I'm good...

Re: Flinner and Walsh in Galway NY

I think Joe plays a Lawrence Smart dola https://www.pegheadnation.com/instruments-gear/fine-lutherie/lawrence-smart-style-mandola/. He mentions his second dola is a H2 Gibson.

  19. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

I just thought it was interesting because Compton said "No" and I never realized the creator of bluegrass didn't read music. Thought I would share ;).

    Re: Tusk Nut or What

    I'd go with bone https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/materials/nuts-and-saddles/unbleached-bone-nuts/
  21. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

Musescore is the best. You can import a notation PDF and add TAB in minutes.

I once asked Mike Compton if I should learn to read notation and he replied "Bill didn't know how to read music."

I've had good luck with these:

I just noticed jaycat said the same thing....I guess that's 2 votes for the John Pearse Tenor Guitar Strings.
  23. Does Pick Size and Instrument Size have any Correlation?

I recently accidentally purchase a XL ToneSlab pick. I feel it's way too large for picking mandolin. But, it feels really comfortable playing octave, mandola & guitar.

    Do you think there is...

You are correct! Thanks for teaching me something new everyday, I looked at that wiki page 4x and didn't see Jerry. Thanks!
