That is really spectacular! Congratulations on assembling the quartet. I would love to be able to see (and maybe play?) them in person.

At a quick glance, it seems like just an odd camera angle or shadow. But then you look at it, and... Yowza.

Osteoarthritis here. Ibuprofen helps, but I don't like the potential effects on the liver. My doc recommended Voltaren, but it's toxic to cats, and I have 4, plus work at a cat shelter, so that's a...
Look for synthetic core strings, or gut. Dominants are sort of a standard for violin (as opposed to fiddle), & some folks really like them. I prefer Pirastro, but as usual, it's a personal choice.

It's a little tough to tell with the angle of the photos, but it seems a bit high to me, and as noted above, it looks like the bridge is adjusted as low as it goes.
If the instrument is otherwise...
That is so very cool!
I also like the flat tops with the wound A string for my Weber Vintage F. They just sound the best on that mando. I am down to my last set of them; once they go on, I will need to look for something...
Two thoughts: Could you just ask the person you bought it from? Unless his/her ownership was so brief that the strings weren't replaced. Or the person your seller bought it from?
Second, comparing...
Thanks for the detailed and interesting explanation of these odd devices.
I know very little about 3-D printing, but it seems like that might offer the best way to make a replacement for the...
I have used a Gripmaster, which seems similar to the Varigrip, for years. The Gripmaster comes in various strengths. It helps developing finger grip strength and exercising fingers for flexibility....
Strings & Beyond, Juststrings & D'Addario all seem to have the set in stock. As does Amazon.
Or <shudder> a banjo.
Happened to me.
Don't understand why folks do this. I've had people come up to me on the street, in a train station, in a park, while setting up for performance, etc., and ask to play my...
Seems like a lot of tempest in a teapot. (But, I'm responding... And, my screen name. So... )
Nice! Great looking, and it sounds like you have bonded quickly.
Also like the stand. Where did you get it?
Well, I would like to hear from someone who has tried it as well. Arthritis in my thumb joints has made it harder to turn tuning pegs without pain. I have modified a peg winder to help with tuning,...
Not sure what we're looking at. . . .?
Peterson has a software strobe tuner for Windows, but that may be more than you're looking for.

Don't see any reason to show a strap at all.
They are the strings I settled on for my Weber Vintage F. Guess I'll have to start looking again when I use my last set. Think there is one set left in the cabinet.... 😾
WOW! Just... Wow!
It helps to appreciate the time, skill and handwork involved in making your beautiful instruments.
Thank you so much for posting this!
There's at least one thread here on the MC on Fast Fret. It's mineral oil on a felt/fabric wick that you wipe on strings. Some folks like it, others don't. I used to use it on guitar strings in my...
I have the Waverly winder in ebony, and have used it a couple of times. Works well. I got it at a sale price from StewMac, but it was still pricey.
There are probably others similar to the...
Yes. Yes. And yes.
David:
You beat me to it. If you are using cello music, depending on the piece, or the range of the piece, you may run into tenor clef.
I learned tenor clef years ago for vocal ensemble music...
