I agree. My guess though is they’re coming from treble clef instruments or bass clef instruments in fourths. So a bass clef in fifths introductory book makes a lot of sense. Either way. When it...

Yeah. Part 2 (3,4) have been on there a while. It’s tougher to find part 1 (1,2). Hopefully we can get it added to IMSLP.
Good news for those of us in the US. The Art of the Mandolin has officially entered into the public domain. It’s a great book so I’m hoping to see some copies legally spread around now.
I have wiedt elementary studies and a bellenghi. Both being in treble clef, figured it would be nice to go to bass clef with them also. I need to check the copyright on the wiedt however.
Thanks Jim. I’ll be happy to post the file in Bass Clef here later. I have one more Mandocello method book. It’s not nearly as nice as this one, but I’m considering transcribing into Dorico for...
Smart definitely makes some of the best sounding and playing Mandola’s!
Update: P.49, andantino is now in the correct clef (musescore issue)
P.59 Allegretto now has the correctly signature
P.59 C minor tag vs C Major.
Thanks to Kuno for finding these errors!

That one is very nice also. Yes, the more I play them the more I like them. I put thomastik’s on the mandolin but I’m not convinced it’s the sound I’m looking for. Still debating what to put on...
Beautiful also!
Those are two beautiful instruments
Yes and No. The nicest part of the piccolo mandolin is you have a very easy play up to the high C 3 octaves above middle C. Also you can play open to fifth position on all of the strings pretty...
Yeah I bought mine to predominately make it easier to do flute music, but I was hoping to hear some use it in the orchestral way to double high lines.
Hey everyone. I was just wondering how many people out here actually play the piccolo mandolin? I have a weber gallatin tuned CGDA a fourth above the regular mandolin. They call that one the...
I will check the catalog. I’m sure they have something there worth having! :). Thanks for the offer.
Awesome Joe. Great Job!!
Surprisingly usable... with good technique :)

honestly it does get use. It's very easy to use when learning chord tremolo as the pick will not fall between the strings and...
Finally, here for your enjoyment, is the Bass Clef Version of the Bickford Mandocello Method. I'd still say it's in draft phase, but hey, it's here and hopefully there aren't too many errors or...
Took a trip to Kansas City this weekend to Bradford Company Fret Shop to pick up two new instruments. I've wanted a matched pair of a Mandolin and Mandola and I found the legendary Authur Stern...
I’d love to hear this piece done with the horn as a solo mandola and then the mandocello play the trombone part and a bass playing the tuba part, but it is a very nice arrangement of the pieces.
Try looking at the positions pages on the Bickford Mandocello method in the other forum post. It’s actually really good with suggested fingerings for most of the positions.
Very good points. I agree, I have a 24.75” scale and very long fingers so even reaching the notes with the 3rd finger instead of the 4th sometimes becomes a question on comfort.
I will say this...
Hello Friends.
So after going through the method, I thought now would be a good time to open up a discussion of mandocello specific techniques and how best to learn them. Here’s just a few of...
That is a beautiful instrument. I would love a Gibson K-4, but I’m also very happy with my Weber Gallatin Mandocello. I saw that Weber made a 10 string mandocello at one time. That would be the...
My favorite pick is the big city and tf-140 pick by Wegen picks. The big city is Like a more rounded teardrop jazz pick, I have no issues with it at all on any string,. ...
