    Re: Round core mandolin strings?

Madobassman, lovely reply to my post. I quoted the OP’s post and gave more info then he asked for but he didn’t narrow down the response he wanted and I did provide an option and some info I had,...
  3. Re: Soliciting suggestions for my next mandolin (or not)

More bass why not add a Dola or OM?
  4. Re: Vega Model 201 - Sweet sounding mandolin

I bought a Vega bowlback from Jim many years ago, also a sweet sounding instrument. Love Vegas but have never played a flat back like the 201.

    Re: Refret for Gibson F9

No worries Iím with you on K&K I love them in my Martin. When and if I put one in my Mandolin it will be a K&K.
  6. Re: Advice needed for this seam separation

I wouldn't fill it with anything at this point. Anything you pack in there the luthier will have to clean out later and that will only add to the cost to repair it properly. You would be better...

    Re: Refret for Gibson F9

Have you considered something like a pickuptheworld ribbon for you second Mandolin? Quick and eats install and I am told they sound good. But I have never tried one myself, might buy you some time.
  8. Re: Advice needed for this seam separation

Re: If You Don't Perform In Public....

Re: If You Don't Perform In Public....

I would assume many who afford this do it because they appreciate the workmanship and tone. I see no reason why it should be assumed only gigging musicians can appreciate and want that.

    Re: 2019 Tune-A-Week Project

3 acoustic guitars. I started on guitar before mandolin.
  14. Re: Lose grip on a thick pick or use a thin pick?

I have 40 ,50, and 60 Blue Chip picks, and other brands
From thin o 2.5 and 3 mm. In the end I prefer thicker but I found that is determined by rigidity. I prefer a stiff pick and vary how tight and...

Re: Stupid(?) question re: resawing wood

Where do you get a 3" blade and what machine is it in? WOW! I was called crazy for having a 3/4" blade. My 14 inch jet with 6" risers can do a decent resaw but you have to go slow and have a good and...

One other thing, sometimes comments may come off as rude but really aren’t and sometimes comments come off as not rude but really we’re. You just can’t tell intent that well on a written forum.

Re: Stupid(?) question re: resawing wood

I cut with without and both sides all depending on how much room I need and the orientation of the wood. So I vote for not right way because that suits me.
