    Re: Sliding into Notes

There are a lot of ways to approach sliding. One trick a teacher showed me is to lay the fingernail on the string rather than the pad. It helps clarity. The Clarence White book by Roland discusses...

Re: Western red cedar carved top

Scrapers are a challenge on Red Cedar as well. They do work but tend to tear if not kept to a pretty good bur edge. 220 to 320 to 400 grit works pretty decently.

    Re: Know You Rider

It is usually labeled "Traditional" but it appears to have been put together by an urban folkie in the mid 1950s or early 1960s from standard blues bits. I do not recall his name, he was never...

Re: How to play chords to sing along to?

The point I wanted to make about chopping is that it is one place to start. The full four finger chords can be difficult for a beginner but it can be done with three finger chords. I get the...

Re: How to play chords to sing along to?

The default strum, at least in bluegrass music, is the chop. That strum will serve for accompaniment in most genres for starting out till till you learn more. In it you strum on the 2 and the 4...

Re: A positive Cumberland Acoustic bridge story

I have yet to hear a Cumberland Acoustics story that is not positive.

The best thing for me has been when I quit looking for a partner who was that intense and found some who are fun.
