  1. Re: Steve Knightly talks about his approach to Tenor guitsr

incidentally, Cousin Jack is pretty much same chords as Boys of Summer, so it makes an easy dovetail during a song :)

    from my memory CJ is

  2. Re: Steve Knightly talks about his approach to Tenor guitsr

he and I are very similar - vocal range i mean, as i do gravitate to capo at fifth, but the reason I do GDAD is so that I can capo at Bb

Also I fingerpick, so he's not met me... :) well he has,...
  3. Re: Steve Knightly talks about his approach to Tenor guitsr

surely... it's Bouzouki tuning - as if capo'd at fifth. String choices aside.
i too play GDAD on my tenor, but capo to have a go at

    or GDGD

Re: One more which tuning is best?

You can always capo at fifth for CGDA on a GDAE instrument of course..
  11. Re: Alt Tuning ? - high g to low e?

Its SO confusing when people write tunings the wrong way around...
took me a while to realise you might mean Piccolo bass tuning, which is something Id like to do on a tenor at some point too.

Re: Electric Octave Mandolin. 4 vs 8

It's true that most electric mandolin variants will sound like an electric one way or another. Sure. The chords will be recognisable to an experienced ear. But to me that is not as much the point -...

Re: Electric Octave Mandolin. 4 vs 8

If you look on Jon Mann's site (and this is true of Tavy's work too) they are doing 18" and 19" scale on electric OM models. Tavy does his with a octave pair on the G to stop it sounding too muddy. ...
