I have a neck that shall be seperated from a body (Flatiron A) for replacement. I just learned of the heat stick and it seems like an attractive option. Is it?

Fish glue has been the subject of Stew Mac videos beginning I think only a year or two ago. Opinions on that?
OK....the real story is that I had the neck replaced and the joint is failing. I can remove the fretboard since the neck I'm making will have a wider 1 1/4" nut and I will not be using that FB on the...
Who has good information on where to drill to insert the steam needle to soften the glue on a Flatiron A-style?
I'm considering a mostly sold body mandolin for travel purposes, but have considered having a solid spruce (fir actually, what I have on hand) top with only about 3/8" of air space between the solid...
Great great great piece......I have half an arrangement of this for fingerstyle guitar CGDGBE.....it's a tough one.
Are you seeking a good-playing and good-sounding instrument to play some music with? Or something else?
My copy of Siminoffs book seems to suggest that flatsawn is OK, maybe even preferred.
Is there any benefit to using quartersawn for the back over the flatsawn?.
Some investigation of previous posts suggests there is no good (i.e. accurate) plan for an A style f-hole mandolin. What, then, is one to do?
Hi all-
I have a Flatiron A (festival, I think) from the 90's. I have gone from roundwound strings to D'Addario Flattops to help tame the tone a little bit, and they have helped the instrument sound...
What is the thinking supporting the inverted T design? I was going to try a T shape (fabricated from CF strip stock) but with the top of the T up near the fingerboard. I had intended to cap the top...
Thanks guys. Project is done. Now off to buy a McIntyre feather or JJB or K&K.

This was a Barcus Berry item, I think the only kind of jack available at the time (1979). I reached inside, no nut; press fit, as far as I could tell, which is in line with what little I...
Leather shoelace or small piece of (dark-colored) squishy foam just behind the nut. The foam is easier. I've never seen anyone put grommets anywhere but near the tailpiece.

When I bought this guitar new in the mid 70s I thought I just had to have a pickup. The endpin jack I bought and installed (don't remember how, exactly) is in very tight, but I'd like to remove (it...

The metal shredders do this reasonably frequently on their guitars, (graduated fret sizes, smaller as you get to the higher frets) or at least that's what stew-mac says...
Folks-
I'm considering a solid-body build, would like to include a pickup. I want something that would sound as much like an acoustic (yeah, I know) when plugged in, so not a modified of tweaked...
I played an Alpine in a noisy convention hall some years ago, thought it sounded great.
No real way to check out new masterclass instruments, I would definately have to buy o the used market. Anyone...
Old-time jam at jackofthewood on Sunday about 6PM last time I visited, about a year ago. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Intonation is good enough. Neck is too long.

Thanks, I was hoping this was the case; all in all, I'd rather be playing than building. No doubt the fella made the neck too long, shifting everything North.
Because, I think, the repair guy was probably not familiar with mandolins and made some interesting choices in designing the new neck.......great work except for this little wrinkle.
