Wish I'd seen this a few weeks ago. I could have pointed you towards several. Let me know if you find yourself in the area again.

As it turns out, the builder's not into the idea. Which is totally fine. I'm going to go ahead and get on his list. His work is gorgeous and I trust his judgment.
At this point it's just a thought, but if it happens I certainly will.
I got to chatting with a luthier today about potentially ordering a guitar-bodied octave. I've got a thing for 12-fret guitars with slotted heads, and could almost sort of be accused of collecting...
Howdy friends. I'm not super active, but I'm a long-time member of the forum getting ready for a move from Houston to the Asheville NC area. I'm looking for folks to regularly jam with and perhaps...
Thanks. I pulled it out of the case to figure out which of those scenarios was going on, and it's working fine now. Go figure. Thanks for the thoughtful answer.
Hi folks - I recently acquired a tenor domra to play with a balalaika group. For those unfamiliar with a domra (as I was), picture a four string bowlback mandolin and you won't be far off. Tuned...
Webber - Is that the one that was at Fiddler's Green? I drove all the way out from Houston to look at it, and I was very tempted. Gorgeous mandolin. Congrats!
Very cool. I've never played a zouk. I bet it sounds amazing with that big chamber.
Curious to know people's impressions, comparisons, etc. of the current crop of guitar body OMs that are hitting the market lately. I have a Pono MND-20 that sounds great, but I find the 23" scale...
Starbri needs to chime in on this thread with his new mandolin tattoo.
I went last year and I'm registered for Week 2 this year. Covid did have a noticeable effect on things last year, but I think Maryville College is pretty close to back to normal and I think it's...
I think they would own a nonfungible picture of a shape. So they've got that going for them, I suppose.
Congrats! Glad you love it. It's a gorgeous mando. For a moment I thought that was a Mowry I used to own, because I had Andrew inlay a similar trout fly on the back of the headstock. I think mine...
That still seems to be the case. My girlfriend lives there and there's a reasonable chance I move up that way in a few years when I'm at or closer to retirement. There are plenty of places to buy...
Definitely seemed like a nice guy running the store when I went in there, but I can't say I was bowled over by the selection. I popped in the check out a used Gibson F9 (which didn't thrill me...
Yup. Snowing today. We don't often see that in Houston, but I recognize it from television.
Hi - I'm going to be in the Asheville area for the next two weeks or so. Curious to know if there any public jams around, especially that might be Covid-safe (e.g. outdoors or socially distanced)?
Wouldn't have helped Gunnar. The the inside (second) e string tuner is the only one that's not functioning perfectly.
Have you tried yelling at it? It didn't help mine, but I don't see how it...
I've got a taker. :-)
So, I had a problem with the tuner on one of my high e strings not holding tension, and the good folks at Ellis/Pava sent me a replacement set of tuners. I took the old set out and dropped the new...
I'd buy at least two - one for my guitar gig bag and one for my mando gig bag. And probably an extra.
I've been having some very preliminary thoughts about a move to the Boulder or Denver area. How is the acoustic community up there? I have an impression that it's great, but I haven't lived up...
I have stickers on one guitar case that I don't expect ever to sell (famous last words) and one cheap after market mandolin case. That scratches the itch without potentially messing up a case for a...
I had a chance to play one of those flattop Northfields on Saturday at Fiddler's Green. My Octave is a Pona with a 23-inch scale that sounds terrific, but the scale length definitely throws me. ...
