Re: D'Addario Strings - Ask Us Anything

I love D'Addario strings. I hate those sticky paper tags. I am hopeful that they will re-think that labeling method. And seriously; can't we just look at them or feel them and know which is which?...

Every one I have worked on had T frets. I suppose a few dozen of the earliest ones might have been shipped with bar frets.

    Classic Grisman

This is one of my favorite Grisman solos. Every note lands perfectly and his timing is just incredible. I guess that's what makes these guys pros!

Re: Lyon & Healy Style C

Your fingerboard is likely original. Gently radiused boards are common on carved Lyon and Healy's.

I don't know where the idea comes from that L & H used bar frets on their carved models. I have...

I fully believe that Gibson started overspraying all instruments that left the factory at some point around early 1925. I believe this happened in conjunction with the change to a soft lacquer...

Sticky: Re: Loar Picture of the Day

There was a mention of the Virzi "pins" a little earlier. They were very tiny brads that were driven into each foot, then nipped off to leave maybe a sixteenth of an inch protruding. (Couldn't be...
