I cant find where a guy might buy the hardware portion of a violin chinrest. I'd like to make my own armrest.

I am building a StuMac a model mandolin kit.
I checked to make sure the neck was flat.
the fretboard has frets installed and it was also flat.
after gluing the board to the neck with minimal tite...

Rick, I have hade a Heiden f model, Collings mt and mf and do currently own a Ellis A deluxe.
for me the Heiden had the best tone, not a traditional bluegrass sounding instument but it was oh so...

Yup it was working just great, I set it on my desk,it slid off and hit the laminate flooring rather gentle like and thats all she wrote. I emailed Shertler but have not heard back.
I was experimenting looking for the sweet spot for my Shertler Dyn M and was rolling out the putty when the mic end slid off my desk to the laminate flooring.
Now it's completly dead.
I gotta tell...
regardless of playing ability, If you can afford a high end instrument then you deserve it.

I holheartedly agree, those dark busts are probably the worst you'll see out there.
What I do particularly like though are the Martin/Collings amberburst, they arn't so much a burst as just a shaded...
