Tip of the hat your way while wondering which handful of mandolins were your favorite builds.

Re: Why do you like the picks you like?

Fred Kelly derlin speed picks do alright. It’s easy to hold since it’s got a thumb hole (think bowling>>Pete Townsend did>who?) - kinda like a hybrid combination of pick & thumb pick. Derlin is some...

Re: Almuse "Aggressor" 4 pole pick up

That psychedelic wah-wah sound is compelling on the Bobover Khupe March -what are you running the mandolin through on that number?
  16. Re: Who makes an affordable full custom 5-string electric mandoli

The Blue Star 5 string (stock new is $650ish-they might have custom options) seems pretty durable, but it does look kinda electric guitarish. I thinks it's a 14" scale, C G D A E.

Re: Flirting with the 5-string mandolin (again)

I also enjoy the 5 string Blue Star Mandoblaster. I found that moving from 4 strings, or 8, to 5 strings made sense to me when playing melodies with some 3 string chords, and that the extra 5'th was...

Re: Help choosing a low force mandolin surrogate

    Re: eastwood mandostang?

The Mandostang might be a little smoother playing than the Mandobird, but I still like playing the bird.
