This should be of some interest. I may have posted the before pics on here earlier, but you'll get the gist.

1912 - ish A-4 needing some love. Pristine tuners and case. Nearly no frets left. Should be fun !180832180833180834180835
So this just came across my bench. Just looking for some validation on the year and some pickup questions. After enough searches it seems they didn't come with labels, haven't put a mirror inside...
Thanks all, guess I was hoping for a lazy fix. Thinking I'll just re-finish completely at this point. Cheers !
Thanks rcc, guess I could give a little more detail. Have a neck that I've already stained and finished in tru oil, but the darkest parts of the bust didn't turn out well. That and a bit of sanding...
Has any one ever sprayed laquer over tru oil ? Thought I'd read somewhere that was doable . Search didn't show up anything. Thanks for any input.

Don't know if this has been posted yet:
"Very sad news in the bluegrass and entire music world today. Mac Wiseman has passed away. The "Voice With a Heart" was 93 years old. He was a musical...

And just finished off an archtop.
Thanks Dale. The resonator came out fine and was recommended by a furniture french polisher. Starting to think at this point maybe just a little tru oil and call it good. Not looking for perfection,...
I'm wondering about touching up the beaten up finish on the back and sides of a 25' 00-21 restoration. I've used restore a finish alone on a 20's banjo resonator, and it came out great. Don't know if...

Thanks ! So you like your high octave strings on the treble or downpicked side of the root course, as opposed to say a standard 12-string thing ie: .018/.45w, or am I backwards here ?
No worries Allen, I appreciate the input. I thought it was priced fairly but the case and pickup put it over the edge for me as being a pretty good deal. She's been rode hard and put up wet for sure....
Has a slider volume pot on the side. Sounds great. Thinking it's actually a guitar P.U. that just barely fit into the Regal soundhole. Can barely make out the brand on the plastic, but it does read...
So I snapped up this little honey off a local CList yesterday. Wondering if anyone can help me dating the pickup. Can't seem to find anything on the interweb about it. The ad text claimed:

It's nice to dream, and stranger things have happened. I know we all keep an eye out, and occasionally you can luck out.
