Ummmmmmmmm . . . . I guess 'interesting' is a good adjective; but not enough to lay out $7,000.

    Anybody played one?

    Re: 2020 NAMM Show Report

I went to see James Taylor back in the early 1980's and Leland was playing in his band; At one point during the show Taylor introduced Leland and said; 'I have know Leland for 20 years and still have...

Re: Please allow me to introduce myself...

I was recently voted into the 'International Mandolin Hall Of Shame' - so I can't offer any advice on learning to play . . . but I can at least chime in to say: 'Welcome - you have come to a good and...
  7. Re: Here's why you are an amazing mandolin picker but still dumb

As a teenager (I didn't start my attempts at playing until I was 16) my obsession with music was most beneficial to me in that it kept me away from the drinking and drugs that my friends were...

Do you look like the 'real' Grandpa Jones, or the 'stage' one?

My old radio boss used to promote lots of country music shows back in the 50's and 60's; (that is how he was once offered the job as...

    Re: Who?

Wow, ain't that the truth! Playing in bands for many years I never sang a single note because I was just not a good singer; (and more than a few people told me so, in no uncertain terms), Then...

Re: Back to guitar after mandolin break

Every time I pick up a new instrument, my playing of old instruments improves, to some extent or another; (kind of like musical cross-training),

I have found that as long as you are playing some...

    Who?

I was recently reminiscing abut a local cable television show that I did in Hartford, CT, about 25 years ago. At one point, the co-hostess of the show said that I sounded like a cross between James...

    Re: Playing Solo..

I am with him on this. After my first album came out in the summer of 1994, I put together a small trio to play my initial gigs with. They quickly grew tired of my songs and bailed out after just 4...

    Re: Playing Solo..

Back in my very early days of playing mandolin I wrote a couple of songs that were meant to preformed as just mandolin and vocal, and I had the opportunity to do them live at a couple of local radio...

Re: What if I bought the wrong instrument?

If you bought the mandolin within the past few days, you may be able to return it, and exchange it for an oval. As Don said in post #2, call Dennis . . . he is very easy to work with.

    Otherwise,...
