My 1920 A model has a 3 piece top and wild, wide grain also. While I don't need another mandolin, I was sure smitten with that clean case.
Congratulations, looks like a fun project. I previously owned several C-1's including a sunburst C-1 like yours. FON 461 from 1933.
Good for you, have fun.
Regal introduced the Octophone, applied for the patent and stamped the back of the headstocks Patent Pend. in 1928. The patent was approved in 1931. I don't think an era correct tailpiece would be...
I used to have a sunburst C1, fon 641.
Congratulations. I have a '32 A0 that's my favorite.
My G&S and Bull Head A style cases are 4" tall, from bottom edge to top of the dome.
All put back together. Ordered taller bridges to raise the action a bit and it will ready to play. I prefer playing these as a 4 stringer.
I am replacing the fretboard on this old mandolin banjo, love the headstock.
These old Gibson oval holes are my kryptonite, like I really need another one. But at $795 plus tax, I couldn't resist. I tried, but I had to go for it. I emailed a really nice guy in Montana who...
I just bought this 1916 A model on ebay. Seller "mandolin is in good condition and plays great. We are not instrument experts so there may be issues we are unaware of". Well, the mandolin is in...
No luck on getting the pins out. Heated with soldering iron, used vise grips to try and twist them and then to pulled with all my might (quite scary). They are extremely corroded.
Asking for advice on removing these 2 nails without cracking/damaging the fretboard. I've gently tugged on them, they are in there tight. I considered just sawing them off to be safe. I would hope...
I see shipping is $128.28.
Come on Jim, I am more than happy to share this oddity with everyone. I don't know how to do a link and thought it would be easy to find. It was on ebay yesterday listed at $200 or best offer. I...
This Tendolin on ebay might qualify as a no bidder.
Who made the mandolin?
My personal favorite is my first mandolin, a plain 1920 Model A. It was what I learned to play on and now, years later, it still gets played most days.
Sledge is holding a Loar he once owned that had rhinestones embedded on the headstock. Frank Ray acquired it later on I believe. Larry worked at Silver Dollar City for many years (and may still be...
Thanks for all the kitchen tunes, excellent playing and recording. My favorite Frank tune, Pioggia di rosa.
Selling a 1933 Gibson C1 sunburst.

Does anyone know if the Crossrock A style cases fit a teen A?
Sent my A4 to Bruce Weber at Montana Lutherie for repair and received this Mandolin Authority pin back with the mandolin. Pretty cool. I highly recommend Bruce for any mandolin repair, excellent...
