Thank you!
I stand corrected. I often use rottenstone on gun stocks, but it worked very good on this mandolin.
I do like playing it and that made it more enjoyable to play, but my Ovation MM68AX5 actually is the most enjoyable to play. I can play it for hours, but then again it is basically electric. I...
The action was just too high to enjoy playing it for over a few minutes. I worked on getting the bridge down to where it is a lot more playable. Now it feels as good as it sounds and looks. It...
Cool! I have been playing this one pretty regularly. Great little mandolin.
It definitely has gorgeous sound. It is not quite as easy to play for long periods and my Washburn or Ovation, but I do love it. Might be needing to get used to the light strings. It looks like I...
I used Rotten Stone (a form of pumice) on the wood to remove waxes and polish on wood to bring out the grain. It is used on fine gunstocks and fine wood furniture. I strung it and all of you were...
Oh, I just looked at the picture. That is a broken string laying across it, LOL.
I saw it too. Just grain in the wood. Thanks though.
Thanks, the neck and tuners keep it pretty firm where it is. I will put a couple of cloth diapers in with it though. I am a gunsmith and I keep them on hand and they really do come in real handy...
It actually fits as good as any other probably would. Nostalgic case anyway. Could possibly put some foam in it. We'll see. Can't wait to play it.
There is actually a permanent mark from the bridge. I just put it on there to keep track of it. I'll probably just pull it off. Thanks
Thanks. The scotch take is barely sticking with Old English applied and buffed off. I'll change it to blue tape though.
A bit cleaned up. Not too bad for 90+ years old, LOL

The case is s little worn on the edges. But it is in surprisingly good shape for it's age. It should clean up pretty good. The handle is fine and the latches are a little bit rusty, but work fine....
Here are pics of the case. Guess now it's time to clean up the case

Did some searching. This case could be the original case the mandolin came in.
I did get a case with it, but it does not say Martin. It says "G and S Co. Utility". The case is not as nice as the mandolin, LOL.
Looks pretty good clean, LOL

In the process of cleaning and maintenance. Removed the tuners and lubricated them. Got them turning smoothly. now to cleaning. Ordered 10-34 EJ62's and Martin 400's. Need two sets anyway. Thanks...
Cool. I'll enjoy playing it. Thanks for the trivia!
I plan on cleaning it up, stringing it and playing it. I was just trying to find out what it was and if it was playable. I still play my Dad's old S S Stewart bowl back mandolin occasionally too. I...
Thank you for that information.
Thanks. Just forgot top post the pictures, LOL

I friend of mine brought me this mandolin this morning at church. It was her Grandfathers and it has been in her closet for 60+ years and she wanted me to have it because she loves listening to me...
