    Re: B7b9

    Good intel here.

Technically, since we're talking dim shapes and chords (flatting the 3rd, 5th, etc.), shouldn't this:

    D#-A-F#-C

be more correctly referred to as

    Eb-A-Gb-C

    So good:

    Re: B7b9

    B: B D# F#

    B7: B D# F# A

    B7b9: B D# F# A C

THs looks right to me. Of course, we are restricted to 4 notes (for the most part) in our chords, so for B7b9, I do:

    Re: Frank Wakefield

Frank wrote one of bluegrass mandolin's tour de force tunes, New Camptown Races, in 1953(!). The number has been recorded by at least a dozen artists. That alone places him at the top of the heap.

Have very similar case made by Guardian, bought at Appalachian Music Store (now sadly gone, due to C-19) in Boone, NC some time back.

  17. Re: Article: Jethro Burns's Tea For One Rereleased by Acoustic Di

What a release! Consisting of studio and live tracks, with some previously-unissued tunes, this is so welcome. Back in the day, the hunt was on for the vinyl, cassette copies of the album, anything!...

Dawg interviewed Ry and the interview appeared in a MWN issue in 1979. Here's the salient part relative to this thread.

I have the new version, with case cover. I had the old version, with case cover. Huge improvement, all around.

Mandolin content, you ask? Yes, as his father started him on the 8-stringer (but tuned like a uke). This is from his first LP as a leader, 1954.
