    Re: Your average $150,000 guitar

That's a very interesting guitar, and the custom work is beautifully done, but I would reckon it would add perhaps 150% of the cost of a "regular" Super 400 (I don't know what an S400 sells for, so...

    Re: basic recording setup

    You need:
    - A USB audio interface with at least 2 XLR inputs (or 4)
    - 2 condenser mics (one large-diaphragm, one small/medium)
    - mic stands and XLR cables
    - CLOSED EAR headphones
    - A decent...

Re: people who have Gibson jam master mandolins.

I think Dave Harvey ought to consider reviving the "Jam Master" models (A and F), even if Gibson can't use that particular name for them any more...

    Re: Refret for Gibson F9

Looks to me like you need the first 10 done. The rest I'd "let go for now".
I wouldn't pay for "the whole thing".

As for Steve/Denver's paying $550 for 12 frets... yipes... well, pay what you...

Re: looking to move, but I have no clue where ?.

    Are you in the city?
I can't stand big cities, myself.
I last set foot in NYC the last day of my job (2012). Haven't been back and no plans to do so.

    The important question:
    Can you get work...
  9. Re: Question about a Flatiron A model oval hole

I'm going to -guess- that's a Nashville Flatiron, produced near the end of the "Flatiron era" of Montana-made and Nashville-made Flatirons.

It appears to have the Gibson/Grover tuners on it.
    I...

Just took this pic a few minutes ago.
This IS NOT "a reproduction", but an original from 50 years ago, when I was there.
    Still in pretty good shape.

    Re: Multi-track Recording?

If you buy a Steinberg USB audio interface, it will come with Cubase production software which will mate perfectly to the hardware. All you need.

    Re: Gibson F-5 on eBay?

    It's a Gibson F-5 from the 70's.

The ebay ad says it's refinished.

Looks like it had a bad case of "binding deterioration" (i.e., crumbling), so all the binding was replaced (the replacement...

Are you trying to buy from a private seller, or a commercial enterprise?

Once the seller sees the hoops that...

    Re: Carbon Fiber Mandolin

Mr. Jacobson, your prototype both looks and sounds great.

By "sounding" great, it's very reminiscent of a "wooden" instrument, not quite exactly the same, but very, very close.

  24. Re: Help me understand mortise and tenon neck joints
