Seriously, that's one nice mando.
A few days ago, Andrew sent out this letter to his current customers:
To all, I wanted to notify all my current customers that this past Friday we
were caught in a flood. We had about three hours...
Doesn't look like he's trying to buy-- just getting some suggestions.
I just got one from Andrew Jerman and I'm very pleased. It cost a LOT less than your max price and at least for my purposes...
Update:
The Busmandolin made the trip to Mexico and back in perfect condition. I never would have hauled one of my good instruments down there (even with A/C, the humidity was very high), but it was...
Gee, you don't suppose you could retrofit mine, do ya?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Really nice work Andrew. I'm more than thrilled with my new Jerman. Torture...
My Jerman arrived today and altough I've only had a very little time to play it, I'm VERY pleased so far. More to follow...
This was a very simple build. You can't see it but the body is bandsawn from a 1" maple plank, hollowed out with a sabre saw leaving 1/4"thick walls. The front, back, and head facing are indeed...
Stop it, guys! Mine is due to arrive tomorrow, and I'm chewing my fingernails waiting for it... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif...
Ha ha! I'll tell my wife that-- she had gastric bypass 2 years ago! (and did great)
No I'm not... they're still in their little envelopes!
I was thinking of something like this :

Ha ha! Gotcha!
Well, it's partly true. #I wanted a simple, tough travel mandolin but didn't want to pay the price for a Martin Backpacker, etc so I decided to make one. #Andy Jerman supplied me with...
I'll second that. Andrew is just finishing up my "mini-me" Les Paul, and he's been a pleasure to work with, keeping me posted during the whole process, sending pics, etc. Yesterday he emailed me to...
Gee Andrew, the one on the left is GORGEOUS! Who's the lucky guy getting that one? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

For $150, I'm considering one myself
Who in the US carries the Risa?
I'm thinking of making a travel mando but don't have the skills/tools/knowhow/desire to make my own neck. I'm thinking that a bolt-on electric mando neck would be the easiest way to go. I'd make some...
Rabbi-- for not a WHOLE lot more, you might consider one of Andrew Jerman's handmade mandos:

I'm eagerly awaiting one of his last custom ordered ones, but he'll still...
I was listening to some Allman Brothers the other day and it got me wondering if anyone plays slide electric mando. Any hints on how to get started? I tried on my acoustic 8 string and it sounds...
Superb work!
Does anyone have a copy of this that they'd consider lending to me? Naturally, I'd pay shipping both ways and guarantee it's safe return.
I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for, and would like to...
Oh yeah! Now I'm even more excited about my expected Jerman http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Why can't they just route the wire out through the back, and into the body?
Really nice piece of work!
Jeez-- I'd hate to see you do that. The Kimble looks like a terrific mandolin, so why mess with something that you say is "beloved"?
For a once in a while solo, why not just get something cheap like...
Look for an online version of the keyboard score: you can play the Aria straight from that with no transposition. I play this on the pennywhistle too: it's terrific.
