    Re: Three Mandolin Sound Test

Nice comparison, PH. I like the tone of the Coleman best, however I feel that the Red Valley is better suited to that tune and playing style. Based on that, I pick the Red Valley, Coleman, and...

    Re: Eric Weissberg

So sad to learn of his passing.

A lot of folks don't know that Eric Weissberg, Jim Rooney, Bill Keith, and Richard Greene cut a country album in 1969 for Warner Brothers. Complete with some great...

The sister to the right appears as if she's deeply concerned....perhaps she spied a banjo player nearby?
  9. Re: Old photos - a hodgepodge of musicians - folkies +

Regarding Mark's photo posted on 3/10: The fiddler is not Mark O'Connor but appears to be (as pointed out by june39)Kenny Kosek. Looks like Jack Hicks on banjo and Joe Stuart with the guitar next to...

One of of Byron Berline's from (I believe) the early 80's:

"Here's an old Red Allen tune....Red Allen's not old, but the tune is."

    Re: Solo builders

    Hello Br1ck,

In that price range I'd be contacting Craig Wilson. Disclaimer: he's a good friend (about 50 years) however I have no financial interest......he simply builds great mandolins....
