    Are you sure about that?

  2. Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

Just my $0,02 opinion here, but that TALISK clip above sounds like phenomenal technique on concertina in search of a good melody to use it on. Very impressive, I just wasn't moved by the melody.

I truly enjoyed this video of Mike Katz playing the Scottish smallpipes with Mike Whellans on harmonica.

Absolutely. Two octaves over one. You have to keep constant pressure on the bag, and that pressure varies depending on what octave you are playing! You also have to pump the billows with your...

Well, yes, I played anglo mostly - generally prefer it for ITM - as is customary. But playing the tunes on EC provides yet a different lilt. Playing these tunes on AC or DBA (dia button accrdn)...

As with everything else, it is what you get used to. One friend of mine excels on the Anglo Concertina. Gets great rhythms for playing for dances.
  7. Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

There are so many different angles to this question. Even if it's limited to just one person's experience, some of the issues are more about the style of music than the instrument itself.

    For...

Ok so it’s actually 30 years not 50
The family friend that gave it to me also was the actual buyer and has the original receipt

Here are some historic bass banjos from my files. The only five-string is the Fairbanks that was at Bernunzio's a few years back. And note that John is not a small person.

    I love Musescore too!
I think the best part is the HUGE user-written library.
It’s Classical biassed of course (copyright in the Modern World), but if you can find a song or tune on it then you...
