    Re: Will Kimble mandolins are....

They're something anyone looking for a great mandolin should try if at all possible, or just have Will build you one.

    Re: Straps

I have two Eldorado straps, like them very much. They're leather, not cloth, but simple, high quality, comfortable.
  6. Re: Gibson Master Model vs. Ellis F5 with all of his highest opti

I'll offer what will be a pretty contrary opinion. I don't feel it's essential to play an instrument before buying it. The usual caveats here: my own opinion, experiences, tolerances, and other...

Echoing what others have said, thanks David for Mandolin Mondays and sharing your music and creativity, all with class and humility.

Congratulations too on your marriage. And another thanks for...
  8. Re: Gibson Master Model vs. Ellis F5 with all of his highest opti

I think only you will know the answer to that. Play and listen and hold them a few more times. One will jump out at some point.

Others (like me) would say they'd choose something else in that...

Re: $200 to dress mandolin frets? Ouch!

If you get a quote and don't like it then don't pay it. Don't seem like this should be a reason to bad mouth a business.

The luthier charge what they charge, like anyone else.

    Music stores...

I've been going there a long time as well. Frank, Richard and team are amazing people. They work very hard keeping the shop humming.

Re: In praise of mandolin builder Matt Ruhland

Very nice tune, played with great touch and dynamics.

The highs on the mandolin sounded to me full and sweet, not thin or shrill.

  25. Re: Splurging on the Best Possible Mandolin Strings
