Re: Post a pic of your cat sleeping in your case

Sorry. Humor intended, not offense. Point being I don't want an animal in my case.

    Re: Stanley Lorton Flat top

Most of my koa experience is in guitars, and all-koa guitars have all sounded brittle to me

Re: Flat Tops, Waterloo and others

Love my Big Muddy, but I can only compare it to my Eastman F style
  8. Poll: Re: Thoughts on electric practice instrument

After a set up and truss adjustment, my 8 string Eastwood works well for quiet practice, and feels right. I don't plug it in if I am trying to be quiet, I just use the acoustic sound. Plugged in...
  9. Re: Augustino LoPrinzi electric mandolin on Ebay

Augie was building in Clearwater Florida, now his daughter is with him. They won the LoPrinzi name back and are using that.

  10. Re: Augustino LoPrinzi electric mandolin on Ebay

I like the funky look of that mandolin.
This is my 1981 Augustino CM-20. It sounds great. Got El-Kabonged by a drunk in a bar fight when I was out on break, so the back has a rough cleat. Refinished...

Re: Case options for flat top

I bought the Crossrock fiberglass case on Amazon, but the fit is not exact.

    Re: EastWOOD electric mandolin

I get a good clean sound, more "acoustic-y" than I expected.

    Re: EastWOOD electric mandolin

Back from the tech today. Action became comfortable with just an adjustment to truss and intonation set.
It plays really nice. The sound through an amp is good. A lot of adjustment via the tone...

    O.M.'s

Much to my chagrin, it took me almost 1 year of membership here to realize that O.M. was not Orchestra Model, as in guitars.
I humbly submit myself to any corrective measures called for.

    Re: EastWOOD electric mandolin

OK is OK with me! Hasn't come back from set up yet.
If it plays nice, I will be happy. Not my primary instrument, and I truly enjoy my acoustic mandolins.

  19. Re: Hi can anyone tell me anything about a Recital Mandolin?

That has a very suspicious similarity to the saddest ukulele I ever bought. The unique pear shape, coloring, and f-holes look the same, as do the various bits of hardware. Not saying it's a sad...

    Re: EastWOOD electric mandolin

I took the Eastwood mandolin to my local shop to have the nut slots cut deeper and for a set-up. Once it is a little more comfy to play, it should be a lot of fun.
  21. Re: Good deal on a Big Muddy M2 on Boston CL

The bridge looks like it was added for amplification, unless he built it that way. Most I have seen pictures of, and mine, have a simple carved bridge.

    Re: EastWOOD electric mandolin

That looks sort of similar to the Eastwood, though this one is more like a solid body but chambered, with a flat top.
It arrived today. Tunes well, the pickup actually sounds pretty nice. Fret ends...

    EastWOOD electric mandolin

Yes, Eastwood. I already have an Eastman.
I took a chance on this chambered electric mandolin with a humbucker pickup. Eastwood makes some really funky looking instruments, including mandocasters,...
  25. Re: Good deal on a Big Muddy M2 on Boston CL

I have a walnut backed Big Muddy ("primitive build"), and in general I favor it over my Eastman MD315 ( see avatar).
Great instrument and a bargain even at brand new price.
