Thanks everybody for the time and great info...finding mandolincafe was the first step forward in learning! Like many of these posts said, I'm there learning from scratch anyway,,,I had my mind made...
I'm about 6 months into learning mandolin, from a no experience at all playing music background. Started off, doing youtubes, and a dvd/instruction book,,,and some friends that play guitar helping...
or a mandolin to take camping/paddling/hiking with me, and not stress over it being in the elements...you are exactly right though, a luthier looked at it, said the cost to fix it would be more than...

I just bought (with the guidance from the mandolin cafe) a Kentucky 250 myself...the Bradley is more of a project...it shows it hasn't been picked up in a long time...no price has even been...
