Whoops! I should have read this whole thread. All this about tuning G string Up to A was discussed. Apologies.
yes! I spent a lot of time and money and drool on that street in my twenties and thirties.
Actually, I believe that most of these are Rudy’s private collection and are displayed in cases at the Scardsdale store. I visited there a few months ago and Rudy himself showed me around and took...
Sorry, Strabo, Helicore violin strings are actually wound on a stranded steel core not synthetic....
If I recall correctly, the current two volume set of Ranieri was edited down from the original five volumes (I think). I am not sure why they did that. I would also be careful about copyright...
My current favorite strings on my main fiddle are Kaplan Amo — very warm tone. Before that I liked Thomastik Vision on other violins.
This is a 9 plus year old thread. Oscar, no one mentioned anything about a Dombra. Tucker, read the old posts. 4-string domras are usually tuned GDAE.

that is not surprising. I thought their timetable was very optimistic. Sorry for your disappointment, though.
I suppose if I really needed it yet another Mandolin, I would go for one of these....
17 year old thread alert.
The only link I saw was to an antiquated eBay listing, which, of course, was a dead end. And you know me – – I am a big stickler for linking photos for hysterical porpoises. :)
The sad thing about the Gibbs thread mentioned above is the lack of even one photo.
I think that Levin probably did make slot head mandolins— there are some pictured on this page, along with a lot of other models unpictured....
Every jam of every genre has their overplayed songs or tunes. I remember Orange Blossom Special and Foggy Mountain Breakdown. We often overplayed when I was first starting to play. And then there is...
I am a bit confused: you say you’re living in the US but you want to look for American made vintage instruments in Ireland? Am I missing something here? Or are you just curious about why there aren’t...
It’s funny, but I would have thought that by now they would have posted some pictures of the prototypes that they built instead of the graphic representations. I am sure that all of you who have...
I am Facebook friends with him and he seems relatively active on Facebook as well.
These were the flattops of the L&H line. It says style E and that is what it is. For some odd reason they switched the letters depending on the year going up to G even.
Could it be Leo Coulson of Intermountain Guitar & Banjo?
