Re: Post A picture of your favorite "A" model

That is also what I play and is my favorite. Not as clean as yours, tho many, many hours and gigs, but a great sounding/playing/looking mandolin. Thanks Hans.

    Re: Bridge sizes vs tone

While I am not sure about size comparison, weight comparison on the other hand does make a difference. So if larger size adds weight it may be a negative thing. Of course mandolins vary with what...

    Re: New Kentucky Home

Rocking a small straight edge across three fret is much more accurate than any visual you may try to see for high frets.

    Re: Expensive mandolins

I feel the better instrument you have, no matter your ability, the better it sounds and the more you play because you enjoy listening to your mandolin, and it probably plays better. I have always...

    Re: Bridge "leaning" toward peghead

Like HoGo and Robert, I burp under full tension. Seems there was a thread here somewhere where the Dawg was playing a mandolin somewhere and burped the bridge under tension. It's not a rare thing.

    Re: Substitutes for ebony?

I would have no problem with a nice figured, brown colored fingerboard over ebony.

Re: Tuner that works for setting intonation?

I use the Peterson, and have no problems reading harmonics. The Polytune/Unitune is nearly as accurate if used in strobe mode, tho harder to read than the Peterson.

    Re: Refret Considerations

I agree with Robert, no reason to replace more than the first 5 if that is all that is worn. Level to existing frets.

    Re: Volume boost pedal question

I have talked with K&K several times about a preamp more suited to the mandolin/violin frequencies, but I think they think the market is not there. The K&K pre is definitely more suited for guitar. I...

Re: Man I need a good tuner...

I have a couple polytune/unitune tuners. They are great tuners, but have one weak spot. I take them off and put them on after opening them. The small thin plastic can otherwise crack where you would...

    Re: Question about glue

I agree with grandcayonminstrel. I also have done several upright bass tops or backs with HHG in a session with no help.

    Re: Volume boost pedal question

I have had several preamps over the years, but have been using the RedEye for years now. I did wire in a micro switch for a mute in mine.

Re: Man I need a good tuner...

Clip on tuners are designed to work with very little effort when you pluck the string. Striking it hard can overdrive them. Very lightly touch the string with your finger or a pick, very lightly.

Re: Do people ever change their strings?

I just do one string at a time. I never take them all off at once unless a repair is needed. As mentioned change them all tho.

  16. Re: Looking for a clip-on tuner that works well in daylight...

Another plus, besides working well and being accurate it that the batteries last. I have used mine daily for a year it seems, while my partner is always changing her battery.

Re: Cleaning Mold From Inside a Guitar?

Set it in the sun, you are going to glue it back together anyway, if something else opens up glue it. Sun should kill mold.

    Re: Eastman 304 fretboard extension

I find oval hole mandolins sound better when played at the beginning of the hole on the bridge side. No need to remove anything.

    Re: Soft Picks ?

Try lowering your pickups, that should warm the tone some.
