    New original: Beaufort West

    https://youtu.be/XTwh8NrvoiM

Here's a tune written for and played in a small Karoo town called Beaufort West. This town always gives me ghost town vibes, which was inspiring the tune.
    I hope you...

Here's a tune written for a small Karoo town famous for a freak flood in 1981, which destroyed the town and killed several people. It was especially surprising because...

    Re: 2020 NAMM Show Report

    Re: Waterman
I have a Waterman ukulele, and I would not recommend it to a serious musician. It was fine for a couple months, but the neck bowed, and the bridge is pulling off, and now it's pretty...
  4. Re: Played a couple Kuun mandolins, some impressions

Here's one of the videos I had my brother film on my phone while there. Because the strings were so new I couldn't keep them in tune, so the E course is a bit off, but in the words of Mr. Skaggs'...
  5. Played a couple Kuun mandolins, some impressions

So yesterday I had the privilege of meeting Murray Kuun, and playing some of his instruments.
I went specifically to make demo videos of the two mandolins he has in stock, which we did, but I'll...

Nine pound hammer. First break is from banjobenclark, the other two I came up with, borrowing a few licks from several places as is the norm.

    Also broke a string...

    Nine Pound Hammer

    https://youtu.be/x0y-M9HnGbY

Love this song, the first solo is from banjo Ben Clark's build a break lesson, and the other two I made up (I did use some licks from banjo Ben's bag of licks lesson)...

That's awesome! With a good set up that should be a mandolin that'll last you a long way into learning.

  16. Re: My new electric mandolin -- But it sure ain't me playin it.

I dig it! I was a bit confused by the first video, I was like, "wow, how do you find band members who all look like you?" And then I realized they didn't look similar but identical :))
