    Re: Developing Finger Independence

So any suggestions for keeping 4th finger (pinky) over the fretboard, as opposed to allowing it to do its own thing?
  2. Re: What Do You Use for Editing Standard Notation

Peter, your post aroused my curiosity. What do you mean by marking up a piece of music?

    Re: Developing Finger Independence

Maybe that explains why I struggle so much with 3 finger chords.

    Re: Developing Finger Independence

Apologies to Brad! As I look over the entire workbook, I see there's one page with some serious notation. Not sure of the context, but will when I get to that point???

    Re: Developing Finger Independence

Mark, I've enjoyed many of Brad's podcasts. I've downloaded the book and will listen to the podcast. I wish Brad included standard notation in his materials; otherwise, the ones I have are excellent.

    Developing Finger Independence

My teacher is wanting me to work on strengthening my left hand 3rd finger so it may act independently of both 2nd and 4th fingers. She showed me an exercise where I tap each finger separately,...

    Re: If you jam . . . .

I just realized how rude this sounds! For those who might care, I'm not that person! I loved playing at the senior center, but decided I needed to cut back on my schedule. By "more sophisticated...

    Re: If you jam . . . .

I do like that 3 finger chords are movable. Forgot about that being a reason to learn them.

    Re: If you jam . . . .

Thanks for all the input. I asked my question because I can easily play 2 finger chords, but adding another finger is terribly challenging for me.

The problems I have with 3 finger chords are...

    If you jam . . . .

If you play in a "friendly" jam, are you put off by mandolinists who primarily play 2 finger chords?

    Re: Recording App for Android

If Soundcorset does this, I sure don't know how to make it happen. Would be nice, though.

    Re: Recording App for Android

Sorry, Doug, but I don't understand the question. Just like Excel, it probably has features I should, but don't, use. I only use the metronome feature, with the possibility of using the record...

    Re: Recording App for Android

Interesting! I found it but it was not on my phone, so I had to install it from Samsung.

    Thanks for the info, Jake.

I have a Samsung Galaxy. Seems I've seen Voice Recorder but don't see it in my apps. Where is it?

    Re: Recording App for Android

It seems like I'm answering my own posts these days. Once again my teacher came through. The app I use for a metronome also has a recorder, which I knew. There's a tiny little pencil in the upper...

    Recording App for Android

Do you know of a good recording app for Android? I'm specifically wanting one where I can include a title, such as name of piece and date recorded.

    Moonlight Sonata

Is there an arrangement of Moonlight Sonata that would sound good as a mandolin solo?

I should probably try it before posting, but am curious and can't play right now.

    Re: Music Stand Light

So I suppose this is a separate issue. I shouldn't leave my new one plugged in all the time - if I want to preserve the battery.

    Re: Song books for women?

I should have mentioned I'm interested in notation as well as chords for my range (G below middle C to C2). I'll check out Hal Leonard's book.
